Treo 680?

Ed Colligan, one of the original Treo visionaries and current CEO of Palm, revealed on last week’s invesetor relations conference call that Palm will be releasing a low-priced Treo by the end of the year. While Mr. Colligan gave little information about the upcoming device, he confirmed it would have a keyboard and a touch screen. He said that the Treo 750v released in Europe (available October 2nd in the UK) was the third of four models being released this year. Colligan also stated that he expects the upcoming Treo to be offered worldwide by more than 20 carrier partners. (Update: on September 28, the Treo 750v was announced in Asia as well. For more information, click here.)

There have been many rumors about a new Palm OS low-cost Treo beginning with the leak of a Cingular Treo roadmap, which showed the expected rollout of antenna-less Treos code named Nitro & Lennon. Many believe that the device released a few weeks ago in Europe was the Lennon, and that the fourth device will be a Palm OS Low Rider or Nitro. The antenna-less Treo pictured above is allegedly a Treo model number 680 code named Low Rider. We cannot independently confirm the legitimacy of the photo, which we believe originated on PDA247. Four more rumored images are visible here as well.

  1. But I don’t want an inexpensive treo :(!!

It’s the fact that palm pilots are more expensive compared to regular pdas and cell phones that make a treo worth having :O!!

  2. you know what would be nice.if palm made a treo that wasn’t a phone but had the same design as the 650 without the antenna and built in wifi.that would be nice.

  3. I wonder how a low priced item will include. No camera? Less memory? No bluetooth? Any ideas?

  4. What some of us wnat, is full syncronization with our PC’s and NO wireless internet, etc. I still want to use my Bluetooth headset, and my palm programs. IF it does not comethur with these options, I believe that the market will be limited.
