Major ClipPro update available on mytreo.net
MTDN’s five star developer PocketScience has released a major update to its highly popular text editing utility for PalmOS! This program is available at a discount to MTDN members by clicking here. Be sure to disable previous versions of ClipPro before installing this update.
Application Description
Clip PRO is an OS 5 extension that remedies a number of problems with the standard Palm OS clipboard. It increases the amount of text you can copy from 1KB up to 64KB, allows you to keep up to 14 clipboards active at any one time, and gives you a wide range of text editing tools.

One way to use Clip PRO is to assign a hard button to it. Do this by selecting a button appropriate to your device from the list when you tap "Key". Then whenever you need to use Clip PRO simply hold down the button for about 1 second and the menu will be presented to you.
Clip PRO can be activated through the command bar, so if you want to copy a piece of text you select the text as you normally would, then activate the command bar with the upward right-slanting stroke, select Clip PRO, then Copy. Pasting is just as easy, except the Paste option will open another list containing your 10 clipboards, and show you the first dozen or so characters. Find the one you want and voila!
Clip PRO also has an "auto menu" option. When selected all you have to do is select a piece of text and Clip PRO will automatically display its menu - allowing you to cut/copy with less pen taps! To disable the "auto menu" option simply turn off the checkbox labelled "Auto menu" in Clip PRO.
You can also edit your clipboards - simply launch the Clip PRO application, select the desired clipboards from the list, make any changes you desire, then tap the "Save" button!
The Tools menu will allow you to perform a number of useful manipulations on selected text. These tools are also available within the Clip PRO application so you can manipulate your stored clips as well.
Update Description
- Added shortcuts to Tools menu (tapping first letter will jump selection to next tool starting with that letter)
- Added "Insert Email Address" tool - retrieves data from the Contacts/Address application.
- Added "Insert Phone Number" tool - retrieves data from the Contacts/Address application.
- Added "Send selection" tool - enabling Beaming etc of text clips
- Added "Format Phone Number" tool, with multiple formats to choose from
- Added "Shift Left" and "Shift Right" tools for tabifying text
- Added "Dial" tool for Treo 6×0 users. takes a number and passes it stright to the Phone application and initiates a call!
- Added option to enable auto importing of text from standard clipboard after an app quits. This used to happen all the time by default, but some users requested to ability to run it off
- Added ability to add some Clip PRO commands to the Edit menu of an application! The current available commands are Copy, Paste and Tools. These will be visible on any screen that has an active Palm OS text control. (NB: as with the rest of Clip PRO, this won’t work with apps like DocsToGo who don’t use standard text controls)
- Added a separate activation key press for the Tools menu. This should help save a pen tap/menu scroll sequence!
- Fixed bug affecting Tools menu. Sometimes it wouldn’t display correctly if underlying application changed the font.
- Hopefully fixed long-standing crash bug with Insert Symbol tool
- Fixed bug where moving a parked clip would crash (you aren’t supposed to be able to move them at all)
- Fixed a bug that culd cause Clip PRO to draw some menus in strange positions if the underlying application changed the font settings.
- Fixed bug where Select All and Import options would not re-display the Clip PRO menu
- Changed Tools dialog into a scrolling list - makes it easier to add new tools. Also some tools have individual prefs - this is presented via a "More" button in the Tools dialog
- Developer API expanded to support popping up Clip PRO clips for pasting and exporting.
NB: Don’t forget to disable earlier versions of Clip PRO before installing 2.1
