Upgrading Your Treo/Selective Restore

The best way to upgrade devices is to do a selective restore and restore only your PIM (calendar, contacts, memos, tasks) data. However, if you are in a hurry to get the new device set up, restoring using HotSync may be worth a try. Just make sure that everything works after you restore the data.

1) Backup your device and HotSync.
2) Rename your backup folder. The backup folder, by default, is located at C:\Program Files\Palm\*HSID*\.
3) HotSync the new device, choosing old HotSync identity.
4) Verify all your PIM data.
5) Install each app and registration code individually to make sure they work on the new device.
