Email Software for the Treo 600 and Treo 650

There are many solutions for email on your Treo. This is just a brief overview of some of the main options.

The Built-in Email Application

There's actually nothing wrong with the email application that comes with your Treo 600. It is a POP-only client, however, so if you're using IMAP email you'll want to look at either SnapperMail or Chatter Email. If you receive a lot of email with attachements, you might want to look at SnapperMail as it is supremely good at dealing with attachments. Versamail is the standard email client on the Treo 650 and includes support for IMAP.

SnapperMail

Offering both POP and IMAP support, SnapperMail is by far the best application for handling attachments. It is somewhat expensive, but well worth it if attachments are your thing.

Chatter Email

Marc Blank's email client is a unique beast. Not only does this client have the best IMAP action going on the Treo, Mr. Blank's support is unparalled -- he is responsive and turns around solutions to problems fast (assuming your problem has a solution). Chatter Email features a fairly innovative interface that is unique in the field. Marc has his own Chatter forum here on mytreo.net and licenses can be bought in the store.

Many Treo users are having difficulties accessing corporate email because their IT departments don't provide POP or IMAP access. Chatter has good support for configuring and using a dedicated email address to which corporate email is forwarded. Alternatively, Outlook/Exchange users should also look at the OWA (Outlook Web Access) plugin.

Software for Enterprise

Goodlink

Seven

These are email solutions that would be rolled out to a large group of people. Goodlink is generally used by empolyees of corporations that run Microsoft's Exchange server to handle their email. Seven's software is intended more for companies that provide service to individuals as customers. Treo 600 users with Cingular, for instance, might have the option to use Seven's software.
