Many people complain about resets. One of the main causes of resets is conflicting software. Sometimes people complain that they have removed programs using the "Delete" function on their Treo and are still experiencing the problem. Many times this is a result of files left over after using the PALM "Delete" function. It simply doesn't do a complete wipe of installed applications. Using a third party application to uninstall software is generally regarded as the best solution. DestallerLite is a freeware application that does a great job of completely deleting applications.

Using DestallerLite

Using DestallerLite couldn't be simpler. Install the application to your treo. Once installed, press the home key to open the application.

The application opens to a page showing your device being scanned. DestallerLite is actually scanning your device and the PALM/Launcher folder of your SDCard for installed applications. You don't have to do anything at this point. DestallerLite will then open a page with instructions on where to go to upgrade to the "Pro" version which has additional capabilities. Select "OK"

You will be taken to a page which has all the applications on your device and SDcard listed on the left hand side of the page. The right hand side of the page will list all the other files associated with any application highlighted on the left hand side of the page.

For the purpose of this tutorial, I am selecting to delete the NewMundu Radio application. By highlighting it on the left hand side, you can see a list of all other files associated with the application.

To delete the application, simply tap the red, blue and yellow circle and broom icon on the bottom right hand side. It will bring up a screen that asks which filles you wish to delete. You can see the options here:

You have the option of deleting the application, preferences, the application data bases stored in RAM or all of it. Simply keep the boxes checked for the portions you want deleted. Select "Delete". DestallerLite will then remove it from your treo and return you to the application home page.

This should help keep your phone resets to a minimum when experimenting with new applications.
