The Treo 600 Buzz Fix
I hadn't realized there was a Buzz Problem...
There could be a buzz problem. A lot of users have reported that they hear or (even worse) people on the other end of their calls hear an annoying buzzing sound. If you have a problem like this, you might want to ...well, you might want to just go get it fixed. That is, if your Treo 600 is still under contract with someone (either your carrier, the store you bought it from or even PalmOne itself), the safest solution might be going back to those people and asking them to fix the problem. (The most common "solution" for problems like this is simply replacing the entire handset.) That might not be an option for you, however. If you can't get your buzzing problem solved through official channels and you're feeling adventurous (or if you're just feeling adventurous, you crazy person), then you might want to open up your Treo 600 in order to fix the problem yourself.
This document will hopefully tell you how to do that.
Whose idea was this, again?
Not mine! Seriously -- this wasn't my idea.
The do-it-yourself buzzing solution was developed by NoBackup (see Figure 7 below) and well illustrated by XiaoBin and has been most commonly circulated in http://www.ktmonline.com.br/treo/treo600-buzzing.pdf∞ this PDF file. It is possible that the PDF file will disappear at some point (these things happen), so for convenience sake the entirety of the PDF (both images and text) are included here. Credit for developing the solution and writing this text should go to XiaoBin, however.
Annoying disclaimer.
Additionally, blame for messing this up goes to you (if you mess it up). Neither mytreo.net nor XiaoBin will be held responsible if anything goes wrong with your Treo 600 because you followed these instructions. You could damage your device, you could void your warranty or the instructions could be totally wrong! By engaging this solution you are taking your Treo 600 into your own hands, as well as all the risks involved.
Scared yet? No? ...Okay, let's continue then.
Treo 600 - Removing Buzzing
English VersionAuthor: XiaoBin (shoppingxiao)
- Prepare the project
- Install the 3.05 firmware. It can improve the buzzing but not much.
- Backup your TREO 600
- Remove the SIM and SD
- Remove the stylus
- Prepare a clean space for your work
- Shut down your TREO 600
- Prepare the tools (Figure 1), Torx T6 screwdriver (This costs 3.49, too expensive in UK), toothpick (for rubber caps), scissors (use for cutting foil paper).
- NOW, we start.
- use the toothpick to remove the rubber cap. Toothpick is not metal to avoid breaking the caps. Figure 2 shows the positions of caps (screws)
- remove outside plastic antenna before you open TREO (Figure 3)
- Open the TREO Figure 4
- As the Figure 5 size to cut a piece of the foil paper. 15mm is width, length can be doubled, but I use more. Do not cut paper too long. You can t install the folded wire back, if too thick.
- Fold up the foil paper. (Figure 6) Install it back to the original position.
- We're finished. Replace the screws and other things like original. Easy? I feel that after my installation
- Test
- Restore your data
- Open TREO 600 my signal is good. I called my classmates, even calling to China.

EDIT:
The way this works is: The foil acts as a shield to block out noise induced into the audio circuit of the phone.
