Press Release: MILPITAS, Calif., June 22 — palmOne, Inc. (Nasdaq: PLMO - News), the manufacturer of the Treo 600 and Treo 650 smartphones, announced the election of D. Scott Mercer, interim chief executive officer of Adaptec, Inc., to its board of directors. Mercer has served in a wide variety of management roles in high-technology companies during the past 20 years, including senior management and chief financial officer roles at Western Digital Corporation; Teralogic, Inc.; Businessland, Inc.; and LSI Logic Corporation; as well as senior management positions at Dell Inc. in the United States and Europe. He brings to the palmOne board broad operational, sales, product development and international experience in the computer industry, as well as strong financial expertise.

He currently is a board member and audit committee chairman of Conexant Systems, Inc. and NetRatings, Inc. He also serves on the board of directors at Adaptec.

Mercer replaces Susan Swenson, who served on the board for six years and contributed her experience from senior executive roles at Leap Wireless International, Cellular One and AT&T Wireless. In May, Swenson was appointed to the Executive Management Board of T-Mobile International in addition to her roles as chief operating officer and director of T-Mobile USA, a palmOne customer.
