Posted on July 27th, 2008 by Robin
Hey, we know we’re late with this, but better late than never. We’ve been busy after all. Anyway… last Tuesday, July 22, Palm released a firmware upgrade for the Sprint Centro. This update brings the software version to Centro-1.07-SPNT and “is a tune-up that improves email, IM, and general device usability under certain conditions” according to Palm.
Here are the specific improvements that this update brings:
- Improved Gmail IMAP compatibility and an updated setup wizard with the
new Gmail settings - Updated compatibility for Google Mobile Maps My Location feature to
approximate your current location – great for directions, finding nearby
restaurants or business, or checking local traffic. - Improved ongoing delivery of email sent to VersaMail accounts using
Microsoft’s Direct Push Technology via Exchange ActiveSync - Bluetooth usability enhancements and updates
- Sprint TV performance enhancements
- Enhanced AOL Instant Messenger performance
- Improved performance when adding a contact using Mobile Voice Control
- Improved email attachment handling
- Changed default camera shutter sound to “ON.” Audible shutter “click”
will be heard when taking photos - Allows Preferred Roaming List updates over the air
The download is available from Palm or from our Downloads section.

So far tonight I haven’t been able to download any 1.07 updates & I don’t know why. Sure would like to. Maybe off to Palm I go. Hate to say it I’m thinking if going to I Phone. Stop me…
downloaded direct and installed via usb cable… had to click next on the set date part… but took 13 min 08 second. minor cosmetic changes it appears. gotta reprovision after install… and resetup sprint mobile email client. also… hotsyncing afterwards didn’t reinstall weme or opera mini.
I installed this update and now my centro doesn’t recognize all 8 gigs of my 8gb micro sdhc card anymore. It says that it only has 4gb and that I don’t have anymore space on the card. Help!!!
afaik centro only supports up to 4gb. no?
there appears to be a utility at http://www.palmpowerups.com that partitions sdhc card and makes the partitions appear as multiple sd cards. ymmv. no experience with it…
