Serial Cable for Tungsten T5 / Treo 650

PN Technologies announces a new cable product line to go along with the new Tungsten T5 and Treo 650 handhelds. This is significant news for anyone purchasing a T5 or a Treo 650, since at present no other company has a serial cable solution on the market. PN Technologies is the first company to launch a serial cable solution for these PDA’s.

The two new cables work properly with the T5/Treo 650 in order to implement either True RS232 (PDCT5-M9-6) or quasi-RS232 (PLPT5-M9-6, Low Power solution.)

This is the new Multi-Connector cable for Palm OS. Works with Tungsten T5 and Treo 650. This is a full-power RS232 design which has electronics built right into the cable to accomplish RS232 conversion. This cable is compatible with most any serial GPS, cell phone, or data equipment, as it is True RS232. For this cable, you will need a program to turn on the POWER_OUT pin. This program will be provided in an email at the time of shipment. Production cables are now shipping. Customers who have been using the PDCT5-M9BATT are recommended to switch to this one, as the operation is the same and it doesn’t require batteries. Available from PN Technologiesfor $64.99.

Also available, Low Power Multi-Connector cable for Palm OS. Works with Tungsten T5 and Treo 650. It has a modem pinout and is powered from the transmit line of the handheld. It is not true RS232, rather it swings 0-3.3v “quasi-RS232.” Some serial ports work with this, but others do not, so it’s worthwhile to check your specs.
