RIM’s patent nightmare now a reality for Palm? NTP files lawsuit.

According to CNET, NTP, the shell holding company behind the epic patent infringement lawsuit against Research In Motion, is going after Palm. In a lawsuit filed today, NTP asserted that Palm’s products, services, systems and processes infringe on NTP’s patents.
NTP is a holding company that exists for the main purpose of pursuing intellectual property cases involving patents created by the late Thomas Campana for a wireless e-mail system. The company famously settled a long running dispute with RIM for $612.5 million.
NTP has come to represent the antiquity of US intellectual property law in context of rapidly developing modern technologies. Never in the history of America has a company that has contributed so little to society gained so much. NTP is asking for an injunction on the sale of certain Palm products plus monetary damages.
Palm’s share price fell 7.5% today on the news. We at mytreo.net sincerely wish Palm a speedy and inexpensive resolution of this matter.
