Recently discovered Cingular SIM card problem on Treo 650!

Through one of our suppliers, Cingular has informed mytreo.net today that, in between 25% and 33% of new activations of the palmOne Treo 650, the company has distributed a SIM card that is incompatible with the device.  SIM card incompatibility leads to corruption of voice mail retrieval numbers, freezing screens and keyboards, and soft reset loops. The cause of the incompatibility is being investigated.

Fortunately for those experiencing problems, the situation is easily solvable by contacting Cingular directly for a new SIM card. The problem is with the Gemplus 64K SIM card.  If you think you have one in your recently activated Treo 650, we recommend that you get in touch with Cingular customer service and ask them for a 32K SIM or an Axalto 64K SIM card, which we believe are being provided at no charge to customers with this problem.

The SIM Card is located at the top of your phone, next to the antenna and behind the memory card expansion slot.
