Palm announces “super 3G” unlocked Treo 750 in Europe

Today Palm announced that it will begin selling the unlocked HSDPA-capable Treo 750 in Europe on its website on February 6. The announcement appears to end Vodafone’s period of European exclusivity. It may signal the impending release of the device on other carriers on the continent.

The unlocked HSDPA Treo 750 has faster data speeds than Vodafone’s version of the Treo. HSDPA technology supports up to 1.8 Mbit/s, and is expected to support up to 14.4 Mbit/s in the near future.

According to Palm, “UMTS/HSDPA is a global standard and natural 3G evolutionary path for GSM providers.” 121 networks in 55 countries have committed to upgrading to HSDPA.

  1. wow the treo is looking more and more like a blackberry! Is there a 750p for GSM in the works?

  2. again no wifi, pity

  3. HSDPA is proving to be exceptional. I know with Rogers wireless in Canada, they have made the decisions to completly rid their towers of anything pre-GSM. This means analog and TDMA networks will no longer be functional in Canada. To replace these networks Rogers is launching coast to Coast HSDPA on both the Rogers and Fido Networks.

  4. Can this new phone be used in the US???? Like on Cingular??

  5. Is this model Windows Mobile or Palm OS?

I would love a Palm OS version.

  6. palm is really sucking with the form factor and still aren’t implementing good Os qualities like in the 650. it looks like a cross between a blackjack a blackberry and a motorola Q. it shouldn’t be called a 750, more like a black jackberry Q. it reeks of un originality that the presence of the 600 and 650 did they all start to look like bootleg wm5 devices. and I’m going to give this a traditional thumbs down!!!!

  7. I have been a loyal palm buyer for a decade and have been using treos since the first 180 came out. I just cannot understand how a company with such initial vision can fail so miserably in bringing out new products. There is no excuse for making such fat treos, and moving to the windows mobile platform, when palm is really the apple of pdas. I have bought the tmobile dash for the form factor yet it is no match to the palms ease of use. When palm wakes up it needs to make a slim treo with palm, wifi, 4G, and mini usb port, the only will it survive. If iI as a medical doctor can think of this why cant palm ?
