Mailwave beat RIM BlackBerry to the PalmOS market

Hilton Development Group have launched MailWave, the ground-breaking wireless email solution for Palm Powered Handhelds and Smartphones. MailWave provides wireless access to IMAP4 and POP3 enabled mail servers and supplies push-email to connected mobile devices. Advanced features such as Inbox synchronization, and calendar and task viewing provide the mobile worker with valuable information while on the road.

MailWave supports multiple networks, email servers, and wireless devices providing a very flexible wireless email solution. MailWave is a powerful wireless email access solution with advanced features such as SMS new mail notification, one hand operation, and attachment downloading. Deploy MailWave to a single user or the entire enterprise quickly and securely using over the air activation.

MailWave are offering two levels of service; Hosted Services - for individuals and small businesses, and Enterprise Server - for larger businesses and corporations. MailWave Hosted Services allow everybody to benefit from wireless e-mail without the need to deploy expensive infrastructure, while Enterprise is a fully scalable server solution for companies providing complete control of e-mail delivery options, user management, and filter settings.

MailWave is specifically designed to take advantage the Treo 600’s ability for screen object focusing. This feature allows for the user to perform everyday tasks without ever needing to use the stylus. Other features include: Attachment download and viewing, configurable SMS notification of new e-mail, works on any established network connection, 128 bit over the air encryption, read and delivery receipts, connection indicators, air time data saving features, multiple e-mail accounts on one device, IMAP4 message and inbox syncing, and user definable categories.

News of MailWave’s launch will likely come as a blow to Research in Motion (RIM) as they appear to have been pipped at the post before their launch of BlackBerry Connect, the result of a joint development effort between PalmSource and RIM, which will enable connectivity between Palm Powered smart mobile devices and BlackBerry push-based wireless services.

MailWave costs just $7 per month for the service and can host just one user or several thousand from one company. Visit the MailWave website to learn more, test your email address and for instant over-the-air activation of your free 15 day trial.
