Bluefire Mobile Security VPN Provides Added Security for Palm Foleo Mobile Companion
BALTIMORE & SUNNYVALE, Calif., Jun 26, 2007 (Press Release) — Bluefire, the leading provider of security solutions for smartphones and wireless devices, and Palm, Inc. are working together to provide Palm Foleo mobile companion customers security for mobile data-in-transit. The VPN software client easily fits in with existing network infrastructures and configurations, and functions across Wi-Fi, LAN and cellular networks.
The Palm Foleo mobile companion is for people who understand that sometimes less is more. With the press of one button, the mobile companion’s large screen displays wireless email from a paired smartphone. A smartphone is great for finding quick bits of information or sending a brief response to an email, but there are times when a full-size keyboard and a big screen is preferred to view attachments, type longer emails, or to get a bigger-screen look at web pages and photos. Plus, Internet access is available anywhere there is cell phone coverage, or when the Foleo is within range of a Wi-Fi hotspot. With Foleo’s instant on/off capability, light weight and small size, and 5-hour battery life, Palm expects the mobile companion to establish a new category of personal-computing products.
The award-winning Bluefire Mobile Security VPN provides an IPsec-compliant secure connection for data-in-transit. It is certified through the RSA Secured Partner Program with RSA SecurID, leading two-factor authentication technology from RSA, The Security Division of EMC. Bluefire’s VPN is compliant with Federal Information Processing Standards 140-2 (FIPS 140-2) and operates seamlessly across Wi-Fi, LAN, and cellular networks with no user intervention required.
“Palm is truly demonstrating its leadership by selecting Bluefire’s mobile VPN client for the Foleo,” said Mark Komisky, chief executive officer for Bluefire. “It is essential that device manufacturers, wireless carriers and other industry leaders be proactive about the growing threat of wireless attacks. Palm Foleo users can be sure that their mobile data is secure.”
By building the Foleo on an open Linux-based platform and publishing the tools developers might need, Palm hopes to establish a vibrant developer community to create new applications that extend the mobile companion’s built-in capabilities. The Bluefire Mobile Security VPN demonstrates the ease with which exciting technology and applications can be ported to the Palm Foleo mobile companion.
“Security features and service are a priority among companies, and we continue to work to make our products compatible with security standards,” said Mark Bercow, senior vice president of business development for Palm, Inc. “Teaming with Bluefire to deliver a secure VPN solution on the Foleo will help protect customer data.”

The only reason I’m replying is that I saw that my reply must be approved by moderator.Well,to me this is censorship..Where is freedom of speach and right to own opinion ? Unless you searching for vulgar words,(which I can fully understqnd), I do’t see a reason for any approval from any Censorshipp..Screening Yes ! Approval No…Having said that We all know that Foleo as a Companion will be mostly used by proffesionals.being on business trip..or between the mettings and so on..God bless RSA..but to me it is obvious the any potentialities for an attack comes from commercial. espionage which is allways backed up by good funding.Good funding equals to Good tools to get the goodies. Regular hacker does things for challenge in itself, not so much for profit. Having said that I want to comment on the critical issue. Unfortunately a important piece of info I do’t have presently (because I stopped following it) Is the question in difference of legal encryption standards, in different countries. I might eat mine own words. But US Congress has setted limits. years ago for encryption standards..I remember that came to the point that US businesses, started using European Encryption companys. because there were no legal limits on how high the encryption could be at that time..We all know that Treo is Sold in many countries besides US and Europe..How that will played out with Exporting Foleo to other countries that might or might not.Follow the rules contained into the agreements of Sales and Licensing..We all know that 128 encryption which in the year of 2000 was a standard for US websites is a joke..My neighbors next door won’t read my email. But that is about it..Personally I have no use for VPN..But a lot of peoples out of necessity do. So Generally I approved the Palm Foleo move..But in my opinion it is a strategic decision to develop false sense of security for potential consumers and to boost the sales to the most lucrative customers.Which Are Businessman and their employers..This was the core of what I had to say.

I see that my post was approved. but if it was, why is printed/posted few times ? I do addmit that I try to reposted few times but only because after posting it the following page told me that my post was rejected due to rules how much time must pass between the posts..it did not say how long..Now it looks like , I do not know what I’m doing..I do not apppreciate this..If someone could read my post then he could also correct the obvious unintentional repost..
