The new Palm Treo Pro - finally, a Palm device to get excited about?
Finally, do we have a Palm device to get excited about?
Well, the pictures and specifications suggest that at least we have a new Palm device that can truly compete in the modern smartphone market. This isn’t going to satisfy the Palm purists who still eagerly await a new Palm OS powered device but with a slick new look and tons of goodies (including Wi-Fi, GPS, HSDPA, high resolution 320×320 screen, 2MP camera, WM 6.1 and microSDHC) the new Palm Treo Pro certainly appears to be the best device we’ve seen from Palm since the Handspring Treo 600. Have Palm finally got their finger out? We sure hope so!
Read on for detailed specs and photo gallery.

Verizon Treo 700p 1.11 Update
Yup, that’s right! This is the third update that’s been released for the Verizon Treo 700p. Released last Thursday, August 7, this radio patch “is for a phone reset issue that occurs under certain specific and rare conditions” and will bring your software version up to 1.11.
Give it a shot and let us know how it goes!
Note: This update requires the 1.10 update to be applied. If you are not sure which version you have, go to the phone app, press Menu, go to Options, and select Phone Info. If it says Treo700p-1.06-VZW, you will need to download and install 1.10. You can get that here.

Thanks to Handquake for this great tutorial for using MiniTones to put MP3 style ringtones on your Palm OS Smartphone.
MiniTones is a freeware application that lets you put MP3 style ringtones on your Palm OS Treo or Centro Smartphone. Using MP3s as ringtones can be space hog but MiniTones has the ability to crop MP3 files to a smaller size to save space. This tutorial is for use with the 700P but equally applies to other Palm OS smartphones.
Needed: MiniTones
Click any image for an enlarged version.
Using MiniTones to crop and install MP3 ringtones
Once you have MiniTones installed, you want to go to your Palm home page and select the MiniTones application.

Select MiniTones from the Applications Menu
When the application opens it will automatically search your device and your expansion card for MP3 files and list them by name.

Sprint Treo 800w Update
Special thanks to silversurfer20 for his assistance.
On July 28, Palm released a cabinet file update for the Treo 800w that enables voice dialing over a bluetooth connection. According to Palm, “This software download will enhance the convenience of hands-free calling, as it will enable the use of your bluetooth headset or car kit to initiate voice calls on the Treo 800w via Voice Command voice dialing software.”
The update is a software update (not a firmware upgrade), so if a hard reset is performed, the update needs to be reinstalled. It can be installed in three ways - transferred using ActiveSync, downloaded over-the-air (OTA), or launched from a microSD card. To install OTA visit www.palm.com/800wota from your Palm Treo 800w device.

Welcome back! The site has been down this weekend while I implemented a new site design and changed a few things in the background to make the site more user friendly. We felt that the site needed an injection of new energy and this is our first step towards reaching that goal.
The site now uses Wordpress to publish the articles and this will allow us to more easily post new stories and allow more people to contribute to the site. One major side-effect of this is that any links pointing to the old articles will now result in “Page not found” errors. It will take me a little while to fix these so please be bear with us in the meantime.
We hope you enjoy the new site and we look forward to bringing you more great content than ever before. If you have any comments about the new site or have any problems please feel free to leave a comment here or post over in the forums.
