YourCall
Have you ever hung up after talking to someone, and three hours latered wondered if you told them you’d get back to them next Tuesday or next Thursday? Wouldn’t it be nice if you could get a gentle reminder immediately after hanging up to return a call, or note a new appointment? YourCall, from Iambic Software, is just what you need. It’s an extremely useful (and inexpensive!) little application.
How YourCall works
As you can see from the above screen shots, there isn’t much to it. By enabling YourCall, you allow this popup following your phone call.
The popup stays until you dismiss it, so even if you don’t deal with it immediately, it will still be active the next time you power on your Treo screen. For adding a number, this is a great improvement over the built-in option.
The icons at the bottom of the screen are fairly obvious, and come with floating help. The X dismisses the popup, the address book creates a new contact, the double character allows you to add the number to an existing contact, and the phone icon offers to call the contact back.
Of course, if your call is with a contact already in your address book, your options differ slightly. Instead of adding the number (which already exists), you can view the contact’s information, or send him a text message.
Whether the contact is already in your address book or not, you still have plenty of other options. Do you want to add a meeting, task, memo? I love the Web Reverse Lookup option. There are many circumstances where this can be extremely useful, and there’s no need to go to your browser and type in the number.
You can disable YourCall by contact or by phone number. There are people in your contacts (usually relatives) who phone frequently, but so rarely require a follow up that a reminder is unnecessary. The ability to filter either by contact or number is great. YourCall also allows you to set a time during which the popup is disabled.
As with other Iambic programs, notably Agendus (reviewed here), you can check for updates right from the application. No need to hotsync, no need to browse for updates, just click on Check for Updates. For only $9.95, in my opinion, YourCall is a must have!
