An all-touchscreen eReader ... unlikely. Gestures could transform the experience, but that puppy would need SOME buttons.

And webOS should make it to other devices/form factors, but not for a while. Palm needs to establish it, themselves, first.

The "Kindle for iPhone" app is just a reader for the Kindle format (whatever that is).  It's not the same thing. Amazon only did that for the audience, not because they care about the user experience. Any device whose raison d'ętre is reading books needs buttons, at least for now.

I will say that if any mobile operating system is best suited for an all-touchscreen eReader it is webOS with its built-in gestures. iPhone could do it, too, but the gestures would have to be programmed for that device and wouldn't be as mature and might not be as smooth and functional.

I didn't follow your logic, either, so that makes two of us. I've never heard a book referred to as a device, nor did I mention books.

Navigating a text file (which is all an eReader really does) would likely suffer on a screen only device, at least for now. If any mobile OS can do it, it would be webOS, but not until it's proven itself. If anyone has experience with Kindle's iPhone app I will gladly listen.
