Hello everyone. I currently have a Centro from VZW, but I do have a great need for a device that runs Windows Mobile, so I have been looking around. I would so much like to stick with both Palm and VZW, but after looking around at the stores, the only Palm product they carry now is the Centro. I went to Sprint and enjoyed the new Palm Pro, but I really rather not change carriers. Anyways, I was wondering if anyone here knew if Verizon is going to get the Treo Pro, or any Palm phone that runs off of WM. I called the Verizon people yesterday to ask about upcoming phones, and they said they might be getting the Treo 800, but it nothing official. I did a search on this board to see what I could come up with, and from the way everyone talked, It didn't seem like Verizon was going to get the Treo 800, more like Palm wants to phase it out. Does anyone know if VZW will get the Tero Pro? I hate to ask this, but if not, does anyone have any other recommendations?

I doubt Verizon will get the 800w. It is on its way out since the CDMA Treo Pro is out. You could ask them if they will provision a Sprint Treo Pro on their network (since it is technically supposed to be "open"), but you will have to wait at least a couple months for the Pro to even have a chance of coming to Verizon.

I don't know a lot about the way things work with the different carriers, so I trust you guys more then anyone else. Out of curiosity, why did the Palm 800 never make it to Verizon? Would this have any bearing on the chances of the Treo Pro coming over to the network?

It would be all speculation unfortunately. Verizon not carrying the 800w could be due to the fact that it is a gap-stuffer for the Treo Pro. That being said, Verizon could either be dropping Palm products or waiting for the Pro. We would hope for the latter, but only time will tell because all devices have to pass through Verizon's device testing regimen first (which may take months).

I'm unable to reach a conclusion due to lack of evidence... Is the Alltel one branded Alltel or Verizon? If it's branded Alltel, then that means Alltel is still making their own decisions. If it's branded Verizon, then there would have been a flurry of discussion about it.

http://www.palm.com/us/products/phones/treopro/index.htmlSure looks branded Alltel. If you click on the 'where to buy' box to the right, you can get a larger picture with Alltel's logo on it.

BroMinas, could you "slide" your account over to Alltel? I have no idea what Verizon's plans are, but it's worth a shot.

I can't, I went onto the Alltel website and they said there is no coverage in my area.

Find a human from Verizon/Alltel to talk face-to-face with. First, they are infinitely more helpfull and, two, they could tell you if they've heard any thing coming soon. Couldn't hurt to try.
