This is a vid cap from a 2:15 minute Quacktime file on Palm's Corporate page titled, "The Next Age of Mobility Begins."

The things I noted were -
  • The Power Button icon in the far left also resembles a Volume Knob as it "turns up" when it connects to the cell network
  • The rainbow of icons along the bottom.
  • The interface animations are in a 4/3 aspect ratio, of which there are probably no more than a half dozen.
  • The Function icons are always accompanied by a full circle is interesting.

I'll leave the wild speculation to others, except to say that the interface looks somewhat utilitarian, which I prefer wholeheartedly.  The UI should not be entertaining, which is a trend that I truly hate.

[EDIT: I changed the wording in the Subject line from "Revealed" to "Peaked" because the video is obviously just a teaser.]

Quacktime... laugh That's hilarious!

I see a video with some computer rendering added on, but no pics/vid of the actual Palm OS. Those buttons at the bottom are likely to be as fake as the video. How about showing the OS actually doing something? How about more than a supposed set of menu icons? I'm at the point where I just don't believe Palm can do it. They should end the farce that is Palm OS 2.0 and jump on the Android  bandwagon.

Of course that's what this video is and it doesn't pretend to be anything but.  This video does not nearly excite me about what it can/may/could/should/hope for it to be able to do.  But it does tell me that they are still working on it.  And for that, it is noteworthy.

I say it looks awesome. Heard that the designer of Sidekick's Danger OS is working on Palm's new OS, dubbed NOVA or Palm 2.0 or Palm II. Who knows what the next OS is going to be, but it's looking quite promising.

I guess what ever this video teased is dead, 'cause webOS is COMPLETELY different, which is a good thing.

BTW, the screen animations from the video look more like a more direct successor to the old Palm OS.  I, myself, wouldn't have been disappointed by this, but the gadget world wouldn't have been impressed.

This video was on their corporate page just six months ago, 'though.  Is webOS that new?  How much of this operating system survived?

If any one's interested in seeing the video, I can work on shrinking the file size [down from] 120MB and share it.
