Just did another one.

1.Benefits are updated apps. Veramail/mms/docs to go/bluetooth etc

2.More benefits are free bejeweled, im  (if you like that. I use mundu myself)

3.time stamps in green letters on all pictures taken

4.Hardly noticeable dial tone when ring/alarm tones played

5.a couple of new nifty ringtones

overall smeems to be a little quicker and less prone to resets. So far at least. I have yet to install a couple of programs that I had before till I really find out.

So far I like it. Having bejeweled contest with my wife, versamail seems to work slightly better. (not perfect but a little better than before)

Thanks I'll try that versamail update and see if I notice a difference.

Blazer seems the same to me. I never really had a problem before  though.

Been playing with Sofstick Audio Gateway with Ljp while overclocked to 624mz with Lightspeed and no resets! Woohoo!

Again With the 755p update Kocoman posted it makes the device more stable. Another example is playing bejeweled using SAG to my bluetooth while versamail is pulling emails in the background and no resets. So far no problems and nothing but happy with the results here.  Grin

ok good job everybody, i went the 755 and everything is there, working fine, my question is should my phone info show 700p  1.10 or 755 1.07?????? Does it matter? i have the 755 apps but show 700p. Confused for sure and come someonre point me toward the centro versamail conversion? Is that off the palm site. Again thanks for all the hard work and any input you can provide.

It doesn't really matter.  That info comes from 'tokens' on the phone that are stored somewhere other than the Flash ROM (some type of non-volatile storage associated with the modem section).  If you'd actually had a 755 and run the full upgrade, it likely would have touched the version token to show 1.07, but my guess is that since this was a short circuit of the normal upgrade process that it didn't happen.  Shouldn't affect operation any, it's just info used by the upgrade packages to figure out if they need to run or not.

Man this is nice, just a few questions? I have done the 700/755 and the centro versamail update ota from palm, no problems. After my flash i did a full retore from nv back up all was well and noticed a much more responsive device, sweet.
Getting ready for work i went into my palm file and changed the file name that my back up was in, not the back itself, change to back up old before hotsync.. Opps , it has slowed back down after that hotsync. One other thing i noticed is the new google maps is in ram, the old one is in rom, same with versa mail? I have the old version in rom and the version in ram, What to do> Any and all suggestions will be appreciated. I am doing an nv back up now and then thinking of doing a hard reset and restoring from nv to see if i can get the responsiveness back? If so, change the back up file nae this time and creat a new one. The rom /Ram  issue has me baffled.  Thank you, Don

Well after a hard reset and nv back up i got my responsiveness back then created a new back file to hot sync too, didn'y lose the  responseiveness. Why didn't the newer version of google maps and versa 4.x go into rom? Have a good one.

Alright guys after a full day of using the centro Versamail update on my 700p its a great improvement. In the Palm site it says only needed if using gmail or activesync, but I'm using it for AOL and has improved the functionality of versamail greatly. It still isnt perfect though.

I set versamail to pull emails every 30 minutes rather than the usual 1 hr I had it set to previously and it works even better. Before I had sync errors almost all the time. Now it barely does it. Something new with the update is that versamail has a sync log in the menu, so you can look to see how many it successfully synced. Another thing I like is that if it fails it retrys in 5 minutes.

Overall the 755 update plus the centro versamail update has made the old 700p more of what it should have been from the begining. I am extremely satisfied!

Thanks again to Kocoman for making this possible.

I see myself keeping my 700 for a good while now until something really great comes out. Grin

This stuff you guys come up with is amazing. I'm not a tech, just a palm (now Treo) user. I love tweaking the units to make them look and work better.  Can this be done on the alltel 700p?
        Thanks, Jeff
