755p 1.04 update flash into 700p = YES

Flashed originally Telus 700p (was using Sprint 700p 1.10 MR) into 755p Sprint 1.04MR

You need to get the following (ALL AT YOUR OWN RISK)

1) romupdater.prc (its in the SD 700p updater. I did **not** try the 755p updater)
2) run romupdater, it should say "VENT" and "DVT", if you do not see that DVT, do not flash!!! (VERY IMPORTANT)
3) d/l my file and put it in SD card under directory \ROM
4) charge battery, FULL BACKUP!!, run romupdater and type 'ventura'

The radio rom can also be updated, but it becomes version 176. Will see if there are differences later on.

You get the new icons like
1) My Treo
2) Bejeweled
3) Get Nuance
4) GoogleMaps
5) IM
6) Sprint Store
(Thats the difference I saw between the 700p and 755p version)
As to the A2DP bluetooth in the options, I did not see that and I don't have A2DP to try.
(but you can get Voice gateway working and use your computer as a bluetooth headset cool)

Also I don't use SMS so I don't see any difference there also.

Anyone else try this?  Cause it sounds good. If so why didnt Palm also release an updater for the 700p since they are almost the same thing???

Can you take some pics of the process exactly? I'm a little confused as to what parts you use from each updater.

Also what about just running the 755p updater in the 700p without modifying it? Would that brick the 700?

The updater would not work because it checks your version string.  also there is no DVT bootloader in the 755p MR.  so it doesn't work/won't let you flash.

Which part do you need help with.  I can post the howto pictures, but that may be years away.. because I want to post it together with the ESN and QPST.

the romupdater.bprc you get from the 700p MR update.  I didn't try the 755p romupdater because it might not use 'ventura'.  I will check someday later.

ok Let me get this straight.  I need


1 700p romupdaterprc.

I look in the 700pRomupdater and I find a file thas named romupdater and when I click on properties it says its a romupdater.bprc. That one is then folowed by other ones that are named romupdaterdeDe romupdaterenUS etc. I only need the first one correct?


2.how do I run it? Just copy to card under launcher?  try and hotsync to phone? copy to card then copyto phone and check for the "VENT" and "DVT" menu?

3.will the updater already put the directory on the card that says ROM? and does the zip file and other 7 ventura files you uploaded need to be on the card in that folder?

I doubt Ill get to 4 if I dont figure out the first three. LOL





oh Also Is there anything else that can be updated? You said something about you didnt do the radio portion? I guess thats the cell phone part correct?



*EDIT* I hotsynced that romupdaterprc to my phone by copying to my documents and then using the palm quick install tool. Is that the correct way? It showed up on my phone but emediatly reset my phone when I clicked on it.  *EDIT*

Thanks but I cant figure out which files to include and what to get rid of from the last update file.

I included the link to Sprint MR update below and hope you can either add your files so that the rom will be updated for 755? Or say which filed to delete from it and what to keep.

Along with the instructions,  If I back up my Treo with NV backup then install the 755p update will I be able to back up all of my programs and information?

Its not a custom rom, its the same rom as the 1.07 755p update. I just used the bootloaders from the 700p

ok, here is a more simplified way to convert your treo 700p to a 755. for now this is sprint ONLY!

1) download this zip file:

2) extract this zip to a CLEAN sd card. this should leave you with the following two folders on your sd card:

PALM
ROM

3) Insert the SD card into your treo and launch the romupdater from your application launcher. it should say "VENT" and "DVT"

4)Type "ventura" (without the quotes) and press enter

thats it, welcome to your new 755

So everything seem fine and there until I go to turn on the phone raido.
Then I am getting---                               Firmware ROM Mismatch
                                                             The software update failed to complete
                                                              Please go to the support Downloads
                                                           page at www.palm.com to perform the
                                                            software update again or visit your nearest
                                                            Sprint store or assistance.

So I dont know what i did wrong?  Or better yet HOW TO FIX IT.  As of now my Treo 700p is a brick!! 
If you have ANY IDEA on what to do.  Please HELP.
