You all might find this page interesting: http://www.zophar.net/roms.phtml?op=show&type=gbIt's a list of Game Boy ROMs that are free to use. Some are freeware projects while others are demo releases. Hungry Are The Dead is actually quite a good game. (It's fairly similar to iNDUSTRY Entertainment's game Monsta, which someone posted a link about earlier.) ...Hm, I'm having trouble finding a working URL for Hungry Are The Dead. ...And while searching for links, I game across Gambit Studio's page of free ROMs. There actually seems to be a page on the Sourceforge website for Pheonix about free ROMs as well, but that site seems to be having trouble today, too.

The crimsonfire developers are looking for interest in a treo 600 GB/GBC emulator *right now*. The developer said, and I quote: "If 20 different treo users come here and say they want it, then we'll make an OS 5 low-res version...." http://crimsonfire.com/community/showthread.php?t=2677Head over to their forum, register, and post your interest. There were 11 people this morning-- I can't imagine there's not 9 more of you out there!! Their emulator already supports GB/GBC, and just needs lo-res support added for us treo dorks. What are you waiting for?! Go post!!

I'll register my vote, but will the Treo 600 have enough horsepower to play the games at full speed?

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say "yes"-- the old 8-bit GB CPU runs at the blistering speed of 4.19MHz, and the GBC is only twice as fast. A staggering 8kB of memory. 160x144 2-bit grayscale graphics, followed by pallet-based 56-color graphics for the gb color. http://fms.komkon.org/GameBoy/Tech/http://members.tripod.com/~Sh0gunZ/CGB/faq.htmThere are non-color GB emulators (Phoinix and Gambit) that I was able to run years ago on a Palm V overclocked to 20MHz from the default 16MHz. If a 20MHz CPU can emulate the GB, I suspect the treo's 144MHz chip will have absolutely no problem with the GB or it's twice-as-fast GBC cousin.

All well and good but if you look at the Liberty Emulator for Palm, it talks about having to overclock to make it work. I really don't want to get into the realm of overclocking to make anything work.

Remember that the overclocking discussion for the ancient liberty emulator is based on one of two things:
1. It was written for Really Old Palms. Like my 16MHz Palm V, which had to be bumped to 20MHz to run it. You may be seeing discussions from way-back-when about this.
2. As far as I know, Liberty runs *in emulation* on the Treo 600, because it's from the previous generation of Palm CPU/OS, not the newer TI OMAP ARM CPU. Older applications for the Palm run in an emulated Motorola 68k environment on the treo 600. So you're running a GB emulator on a palm emulator on a palm. That requires some serious horsepower. A rebuilt-for-the-ARM emulator will not suffer from this emulator-on-emulator issue, and will probably be an order of magnitude faster by "eliminating the middleman."

Point taken, As long as it works I would buy it, although I must admit I was a bit dissapointed after buying NESEM, it is slow and the graphics are nothing to write home about.

Sweet! The admin's in! I don't suppose you'd be up for posting a front-page "call to arms" on mytreo.net to get that thread flooded with posts, would you?

Let's make that thread bulge and let crimsonfire know that the Treo community supports their development. Already 19 Treo 600 users did post a message in the CrimsonFire board thread... I think this might work out as we wish!
