I am working on a new version of Profeo 600 Lite, ETA 5-10 days. It is an evolution in response to user commetns. Some preliminary teaser information about the new version Smiley:

  • optional 1 second power-on splash which shows the current profile name and settings
  • contrast control in addition to brightness
  • software mute option for each profile and in the hotkey override form
  • probably a choice of several different hotkeys.
  • the radio will turn on/off without sound
  • several brightness levels in the hotkey override form

thanks, Smiley
I am testing and integrating the new features. had some troubles muting the Treo in software, but I think I have that working well now. The only major unfinished part from the list above are the multiple hotkeys, which may take a day or two to complete and test.
So, if everything goes well, the next release will be available ahead of schedule - in 2-3 days. Smiley

I just sent to Chris the new release of Profeo 600 Lite - v0.9. The major changes in it are as follows:

- new preferences structure, so you will need to recreate your profiles
- added optional power-on splash screen to show the current profile settings
- implemented contrast option in the profiles
- implemented software mute option in the profiles and the hotkey form
- implemented vibration option in the profiles and the hotkey form
- implemented different hotkeys
- added extended autooff times for each profile
- the radio turn on/off is now silent
- streamlined the user interface somewhat (removed one extra option from the edit profile form, removed the shutdown button from the override form, reordered the edit profile form, fixed some issues with the light preview when editting profiles, etc.)
- disabled the hotkey and splash during hotsync
- overall optimization and bugfixes

Note that this is the first public release of the 0.9 version, so there probably will be some lingering errors. Also, at the moment the different hotkey options are not very good - I will definitely change them in one of the next releases. Currently the choice of hotkey is as follows:
opt+p
opt+"display on"
press-and-hold "display on"
the last one is perhaps the most useful, but you MUST disable any keyguard in order to use it. As mentioned, this is just a temporary solution, which I intend to fix soon.

Please enjoy the new release responsibly Wink And please post any bugs, problems, quirks, suggestions, and so on that you might experience with it.

Starting from now, I will concentrate my efforts on preparing the release of the complete Profeo 600 Dark edition (dark=non-lite Wink ), hopefully I will be able to release it in about 1 month.

applaud Great app, keep up the good work.

Couple of problems for you;

-Can't get hot key double click p to work
-can't alter ring volume

Could be bugs or just me as I haven't used this software before.

When Scheduling option is not checked, disabled, I only get the 'Day' profile.  I cant see the others to edit them.  Is this by design that to make profile changes you have to enable scheduling?

Also, does the Mute slider work yet to switch between 2 primary profiles?

Here is how I have it now:
Normal (DAY profile)
Everything ON for normal 'desired' viewing

Everyday Use (EVENING profile)
Everything OFF except Vibration and Sounds are ON

Silent Use (NIGHT profile)
Everything OFF except Vibration is ON

As I see it, I want to switch between my Everyday Use (had to put it under the Evening profile) and my Silent Use (under the Night profile name).  With a flick of the slider I want to enable these 2.  When I press the rightmost Display hard button, I want them to be overridden automatically with the Normal Use (Day) profile.  When I press the Display button again or the Treo times ount and turns off, then it should revert to the previously selected profile before the Display key press.  This would be perfect!

Can I do this now?  Profeo 0.91??

It seems that there is a new bug in the sound/volume control, I will have a look later today to fix it.

As for the hotkey behavior, I will have a look. I think (making some test now) that the double click of P (or sometimes it is press and hold of P), actualy depends on KeyCaps600's presence and settings - this interaction is unintended and will be resolved. The press and hold of power and opt+p should work with or without KeyCaps600, and press and hold power at the moment depends on the keyguard being disabled. As I mentioned, the hotkey implementation most probably will be significantly changed in the next releases.

experiment626, in this release of Profeo 600 it was intended by design to be unable to edit the rest of the profiles when the scheduling is disabled. The rationale is that in the current implementation, when scheduling is not enabled, Profeo always defaults to the Day profile and the rest of them can not be activated at all. This will probably be changed in the "Dark" release, where it will be possible to use either profile-based or manual override (the current way to do it). Also, I have not forgotten your previous suggestions regarding the mute switch and the earlier experiments we did on this - I will definitely try to put it in one of the next releases - I just don't have too much spare time. But it is coming. Smiley

Then it is as I suspected. I will fix this, for now use one of the other two hotkeys - I think they should work in any case. The hotkey will be completely rewritten - probably the double-click of P will be replaced with press-and-hold of opt or the menu key, but the hotkey overhaul will probably take 3-4 days to implement and test.

Posting to let you know that last night I had a Windows "glitch" on my development computer Sad, so I had to format and reinstall everything. I am still in the process of restoring the system to normal state. The good thing is that no data was lost (I think). Smiley
