Truth be told most of us have leaned through trial and error. I only put the bare minimum in to restore my treo if I have a bad crash. Phone always runs better with the lightest ROM for me. SPRINT650.

Backup Buddy, Snapper, and ZLauncher can be placed in ROM and will work; pTunes cannot. Not sure about any of the others.
It might be possible to get the pTunes from the Lifedrive updater working. It's been written specifically to run from ROM. You can grab it by running the Lifedrive update and pointing the new ROM tool at the pdb files (via the convert tab).

Same here and from the list I've seen there is some contradictions based on the verion of ROM and Version of the APPs you are going to be running. From what I've read and found in testing mine, minimal additions is better, BUT... a couple that I had RESET problems with previously, now work better in ROM. Can anyone confirm if the following can be put into ROM ?
ZLAUNCHER (i guess any other PRC related to ZL as well)
I am running ZLauncher and ZLManager from ROM, with the themes, icon sets, background from RAM (or placed in the ZLauncher dir on the SD Card) WITHOUT a problem

alright i guess i'll have to be guinea pig for the few others that are not listed Another thing, with the Size of Documents to Go, I think you'd be better off using the Dataviz Tech Tool and moving it to the SD Card. It would really be a HOG in your ROM. I think, also, that any software that is frequently update or with new releases would not be good to put in the ROM. Let us know by posting here, what ones you find will work in ROM.

Hi there, Reading some of your earlier posts I see you have removed Blazer and Datebook. Do you use some other app for the web, or don't surf from the Treo ? Ditto Datebook, as I use DateBk5 can I remove the 4 Datebook files from ROM and still use DateBk5 OK ? So far I've removed the usual, like Versamail, Tutorials etc, but now I want to try a few extras

Reading some of your earlier posts I see you have removed Blazer and Datebook. Ditto Datebook, as I use DateBk5 can I remove the 4 Datebook files from ROM and still use DateBk5 OK ? So far I've removed the usual, like Versamail, Tutorials etc, but now I want to try a few extras Blazer has caused me to many problems and reset, I seldom surf the web (but I do once in awhile), so I have Xiino on my SD card. On datebook5, I am not familiar with it, I use Beyond Contacts, so the Palm ToDo and DateBook just took up extra space in ROM. I left memo and address files because address files support the phone contact list and so many apps want to use memo files to export text to. You can also remove language (I left two). There seems to be some disagreement on wether one or two have to remain. On some boards, I read where you could remove the launcher apps, but I found that i they are not there then ZLauncer does not refresh shortcuts or new installs. When you removed Versamail, did you notice that right in the middle of the MM Files there were 3-4 MMS files? If you remove them, if affect your ability to retrieve pictures in attachments (so I have been told) You could take the datebook apps out and test datebook5, if yuou don't get any erros, leave it out. If you have a problem, just add them back in. I've found most of those type apps can be "played" with a little. In fact, since I unlocked my Treo this week, I've tried about 4 different ROMs (1 that Palm Site said would not work, but it did) to check stability and speed. One of them put me into a reset loop, that I recovered from without difficulty and went back to another ROM. This tool is so GREAT, I may be getting a little OVER CONFIDENT it is use!!! BUT I love it.

Thanks for that, I'll check out Xiino. I'm running on 2 language files as well. Like you say, I could just remove Datebook and then add it back if I get problems, but would be nice to hear from others first. Guess I'll leave it for a few days and then have a go I've still got the mms files. I also removed the built-in calculator, as I use SnapCalc all the time.

I'm planning to Replace Blazer for ***** the one that can do PDF as well but i'll still keep Blazer on the SD card just in case, for those troubled websites, chances are if it doesn't work in ****** it wont work in Blazer either. Since ******** can display so much more than blazer, at a muchhhh faster speed, including flash, PDF and some more. but i got soooooo many programs in RAM that i want to put in ROM, that... well i'll see what i can fit in there (ROM) anything that doesn't fit, will have to remain in RAM

In my ROM folder on my PC the Blazer .prc file was a bprc. file, so I was wondering how I would convert it. Kudos for that There are about five other small files that are associated with Blazer, Tips files etc. I'm not sure if I need to delete then as well, or leave them to provide whatever they do? I guess I will have to do a bit of trial and error to find out
