Am I understanding this?

Is it possible to hook the laptop to the 650 and dial your ISP and use the phone as a modem for the laptop in this way without paying anything extra to Verizon for a data plan?

yeah, though I haven't any experience using it that way, but you can have the 650 dail out to a dail up provider to get internet access. You still need to have a dail up ISP though and I believe the speeds will be somewhere between 14.4 and 18.8 which is rather weak compared to using the CDMA data connection.

I have been banging my head against the wall on this. It is seriously killing me.

I had it working under FW1.21 and 1.23, when I updated to the most recent CNB FW, it stopped working.

Currently i get as far as verifing username and password, then I get an error692.

Ive reinstalled software, did the microsoft "remove bth." Followed shadowmites direction...

I'm using pdanet and a kensington BT usb adapter model 33085 and it works great as a wireless modem for my laptop.  It's quicker than dial up and I agree with Alli.....greatest thing since......
