I have the stock Sprint650. The only time I get the "Enable Network Time" box is if i remove and reinstall the battery. When I say yes, it gives me the correct time. If I turn the phone off or on, I don't get the box and the time is always correct to the city I'm in.
Yes that is correct but you have the double-date problem if you leave this option enabled. Which means that you are subject to the many problems that people have experienced. Just wanted you to know that this option has the potential to make your 650 very unstable. Jeff

I'm new to the treo family, just got my 650 about a week and 1/2 ago. I noticed that my treo has been resetting a lot, even went into a reset cycle that I had to hard reset to stop. I down loaded your program and saw the date changes you described. I disabled local network time and it seems to have fixed the problem, no resets so far. Yeah!! But my calendar will not sync with palm desktop?? Is this a related problem? By the way I have a Sprint Treo 650 without any patches or custom roms.

Glad things have gottne better for you. Can you sync at all with the PC? It may be that you lost your hotsync id in the reseting process. If that is not hte problem, then maybe you have your configuration a little messed up for Outlook sync's. If everything looks right, I would uninstall and re-install your desktop software and see if that helps. Jeff

Thank you very much for your help and the info in this string. This probibly belongs in a different forum.. but just to update you, I was able to fix the problem with my calender not wanting to sync. It seems that when I have the option to show calender events on my phone screen the calender will not sync with the pc. I turned the option off and it syncs fine (intriguing) Also since I followed your advice and disabled the time network I have had no more resetting problems. Thanks agian.

I just installed your program on my 650 that does not have a single patch applied to it... I tried just turning off the phone and turning it back on and no time changes were recorded. Thinking maybe a soft reset was needed, I tried that. This is what I had after the soft reset: # of changes: 2 initial time: 2/24/05 17:32 first change: 1/5/80 18:59 second change: 2/24/05 17:32 So could this be why Butler fritzed out on me? I've had tons of resets since I got the phone but then last night Butler kicked in saying it was alerting me as requested and would not stop going off. After resetting it I went into Butler's settings and everything was all messed up. There were garbage characters where the name of the sound file should have been, the number of times it was set to go off was like 4387, the ringer volume was set to 1000 something and basically all of the settings were really messed up and would not allow me to change them back. I removed Butler and that has reduced my resets but I miss a lot of calls and need the repeated alerts. If setting the clock manually lets me use Butler again I will be a vey happy camper.

This is my first post, and I wanted to give a thumbs up to what seems to be some really great people who post on this board. I have had my Treo 650 for about 2 weeks, and was helped so much by the post on the sim chip problem which was resolved by following your instructions. I was very careful to remove all traces of former hot-sync activity off my computer. No problems at all with the Cingular service on the time issue, but the sound quality outbound is poor (I'm told) with my family on Verizon.

I have just loaded the Sprint 1.08 updater. I had no problems before or after. I did not upgrade or load any 3rd party software until after the updater and still no problems with date/time.

After a battle with Cingular (on the phone) about returning my Treo 650, they told me to send BOTH non working Treo's back to them and to go into a store and pick a new phone. They sent me to a corporate office. I gave the sales rep BOTH of my Treo's. He said that this was the 7TH Treo he had received today and he wished that Cingular would stop carrying them since PalmOne cannot help with tech questions.
I got the Siemens SX66. If you use Windows at home (who doesn't) then this phone is so easy it is sick. Of course you feel yourself getting sucked into the Microsoft monopoly even more, but that is okay for us seattle folks. Everything is windows based. You put your phone in the cradle and let Microsoft do the rest. In 20 minutes I had my complete Outlook contacts for my business on my phone. My email was linked without me typing in any techie lingo. I sent my self an email. It showed up on my laptop and my phone...wow.
did I mention it comes with WiFi. already tried it out at home with my linksys and tried it at Starbucks...perfect. It has Windows Media and can play and hold mp3.
The only thing it doesnt have the Treo has is a slick design and a camera....oh and problems.

I know some are having problems, but my 650 has given great service in the US, England, Scotland, Spain, Canada, Mexico and Bermuda. Next month I head back to Australia and Singapore and it will get a test there. I unchecked the Local Network Time after getting the phone 2 months ago and have had no problems. For one or two night trips, I don't take the laptop anymore. I do everything thru my MS Exchange Server and the 650. Signed.... Happy 650 user.

Very smart move But there's a minor difference here, I do have Show Calendar Event in Phone app, and i have no problem with the HotSync. However yes it is true about the Time network Sync feature, it does causes some problem with sporatic soft reset or Radio problems, dissabling it stops the problems

All,
I have added the ability for ScheduleCare to automatically pull the internet via NTP (Network Time Protocol) and get the correct time. If the time obtained from the network is more than 30 seconds differnt than the system clock on your Treo, ScheduleCare will set your Treo to the correct time. If the network time is less than a 30 second difference between the network clock and your Treo's clock *no* action is performed. This process happens at 3am in the morning so it should not effect anything running on your Treo. I have also provided a configuration where you can provide an offset to the returned time for Daylight Savings Time.
This new functionality is in the newest version of the ScheduleCare Phase II beta. Version: vB0.9.29
