Sure...I understand....and I'm still pretty impressed. I've been into computers for 25 years (since my first TRS-80 II) and I still don't get the programming part. I'm just grateful that y'all do and that you're willing to help.

Well it has been confirmed by a Sprint 650 user on another forum that a completely stock Sprint 650 without any ROM or Roaming patch updates *DOES* have the problem! Jeff

I have a relatively new 650 as well and do see time changes using your hack. Started with the correct date, changed to 1980, then changed back again. Once I unchecked the box for the automatic update the time didn't change on power down and up, but only when I changed it manually. It will be interesting to see how soon a fix for this comes out. Thanks for the heads up!!

If I remeber I saw an article posted on a web site that said a new computer chip, 1/8 the size of a human pinky finger nail, had been developed that sycs with the atomic clock to give you the most accurate time. Sounds like something PalmOne should look into. Small onboard rechargable battery to keep it accurate during battery swaps. I also read there has been a GPS chip about the same size so lets throw that in their also.

My 650 is OE other then some 3rd paty apps. I saw the change, it went to 1980.... This is crazy that a bug like this can slip through.... Contact someone at Palm, how about the guy who use to work for HS and now works at P1? Let me know if I can be of any help.

Okay...it took a little bit to get the results, but here they are:
# of changes: 2 Initial time: 2/10/05 10:20 First change: 1/5/80 17:59 Second change: 2/10/05 11:20
Had to install the app twice, first time cause a soft-reset for some reason.
Mark
Mark, I too had 1/5/80 17:59....too wierd...

FWIW, I have a Cingular T650 with stock ROM and both PalmOne's BT Car Kit update and Shadowmite's BT DUN patch (and obviously not the sound quality patch). I have d/l'd the Display Time Change app and have power cycled my T650. I do have Network Time checked, but am pretty sure that Cingular never did send a time signal to my Treos in the past (T180 > T270 > T600) and is not doing so now (clock is off a bit). In any event, I am seeing NO time changes over a couple of hour test period. Hope this helps--sorry, Sprint folks.

Maybe something similar to an old BIOS date on a 'puter? Certainly something I feel should be addressed!

I unchecked the "Enable Local Network Time" box and that fixed a problem with Datebk5.
Before, Datebk5 would crash and my Cingular Treo650 would immediately soft reset when I deleted an appointment entry or if I deleted all of the text in an entry.
I guess Datebk5 was confused on the "time"
Thanks for fixing my problem......

This is kind of a known problem. The Phone application holds the calendar database open if it is turned on. It also can cause some problems if you have the "display calendar" option enabled in the phone application. So to be safe, turn off your phone's radio before doing a HotSync. That may help your success rate. Jeff

Your results are interesting. I hope that others that have not installed the ROM update will give this a try and report their finding.
I appreciate you giving this a try.
Jeff
I have the stock Sprint650. The only time I get the "Enable Network Time" box is if i remove and reinstall the battery. When I say yes, it gives me the correct time. If I turn the phone off or on, I don't get the box and the time is always correct to the city I'm in.
