Hi, vets,

New to the Treo -- had a Palm PDA for a long time on one hip and a phone on the other.  In a "Well, duh" moment decided that one accessory was better than two.

BUT, I can't really hear the phone ringing in the Case Logic leather horizontal case.

Does anybody have a good solution?  I'd be open to another case, or setting my phone differently, or drilling holes or whatever.  But it would be nice to hear it ringing.  (And yes, I have the ring tone volume max'd, at least I think I do -- used the buttons on the side.)

Thanks for your help!

I wonder if it would help to set the phone to both ring and vibrate.  I know I have a hard time hearing my treo a lot of times.

If you use MP3 ringtones pockettunes has the ability to boost the volume to much high levels. There's an option hidden in the options menus that lets you boost the maximum MP3 volume 2X, 4X, 8X, etc

Is this option on the desktop menu on only on the newest versions? I just looked all through my ptunes v. 4.04 and didn't find anything like you describe.

Not sure if it's on all versions, I certainly used it on versions 2 and 3 if I remember tonight I'll check which menu screen it's on.

The option was missing from some versions of pTunes due to local laws limiting the maximum playback volume of personal MP3 players, IIRC one MTDN user had this issue with a french version.

Edit: looking on the pocket tunes guide on the NormSOft website the option is still present in Version 5.

If the case isn't very thick, I would just use a hole punch or drill to make a hole (any size will work) where the speaker is.

When I got my 650 (or maybe it was my 600), the deluxe leather case from Palm didn't have the hole in the right place for the earpiece (CDMAs had a bump where the earpiece was that the GSMs didn't) and the phone was very hard to hear.  I just took it to Moneysworth & Best Quality Shoe Care in the mall and the guy there punched me a hole in the right spot for free...

That's a good bit of lateral thinking.

This is the wierdest thing. I finally got around to checking this out and where it says volumes boost in the user guide you linked to is just blank in the preferences on my device. So I figured maybe it was a version thing and checked the version history posted on their website and my version 4.0.4 isn't even listed on their website. So I dont know Sad
