The second part, slide the keyboard out and type, I know. This would be what I don't want. It's like having to open a phone book and lookup your friend's phone number each time you want to dial. The first part, apparently my friends with Pre's dont know. "You can make a Launcher page into a favorites screen, with either a built-in facility, or a free 3rd-party app." Can you give me a clearer description of how to do it without 3rd party, I assume 3rd party is homebrew and my friends are not likely to use homebrew, now when I get a phone.... Sure - In Contacts, while viewing the contact you'd like on a launcher page, tap the menu, and select "Add To Launcher". You can edit the first and last names (take one out if you like...), then tap the "Add To Launcher" button. Dismiss Contacts (if you like). At the bottom of your (first) launcher page, you'll now find the shortcut to that contact. Tapping it will bring you directly to that contacts information, and you can select an action for the phone numbers or email addresses there. Hopefully, one of the 3rd-party tools will show up in the App Catalog, as they offer some nice enhancements. HTH, -Jerry

Shouldn't you be saving this in your Treo????????????? Glad to be of assistance. Cheers, -Jerry

Special request. Can we get you guys to port over the Butler program to the Pre. Pretty Please ??? In particular the Pre really needs an audible pager nagger feature and led alert like butler provides with its very detailed feature set. I have never used the program but from the screenshots I have seen , it has all the right options that I have been looking for and desperately need.

pager/nagger currently requires rooting your pre, and it's not compleltly stable/finished. Rob's all ready stated that he will keep his programs using the published API (for which page/nagger feature uses things outside of)

My Bad. That's what happens when you dont read whole thread before posting. I just hope palm hurries up and opens up the API so that we can get these much needed basic features.

A nagger really is needed on the Pre What really blows me away is the way how well Initiate works under "Classic" under "WebOS". I could not believe that I could launch websites and dial phone numbers in the WebOS environment, launching from I8 Bookmarks & contacts within I8

Thanks much! I'm very tempted to try that. I'll wait until after baseball season though. I get the final scores sent via SMS... Regards, -Jerry

Ha! I'll have to try this. Our medical practice would already be switched to the Pre if this were an available application instead of a root-required patch. The Hero may be what we end up going with though with it's better battery life and available nag alert. Thanks for PalmOS Butler though, we have 75+ licenses for all our docs' and nurses' Treos.

I did this the other day, and besides a little experimentation/modification to the boot script and the procedure for making the required directories, was pretty easy. I have it set to check every 10 minutes, between 6am and 10pm. Thanks again for the point-out! Regards, -Jerry

I need help, I have little or no experience with linux or code of any kind. I'm not the slightest bit afraid to try though. I'm trying to get nagger on my pre, I've had butler for years and really need the phone to keep yipping until I acknowledge it, (daughter has health issues and txts from school for help) I have read everything I can find but can't figure out how to get this running by myself. The instructions are not detailed enough for me to follow, they skip things that you guys probably just know but I don't.
So the question is can someone write instructions for the hopeless to get this done. I have figured out pieces but can't put it all together.
Thanks Angela

sadly, without linux experience you maynot be able to do pager/nagger yet as it's mostly done as a script (and maybe chron job) your best bet is to ask for some help in the webos board but i'm not so sure if any of the superusers up there will be able to help any more than the web-os internals page (linked above) could EDIT: Try this PatchYou'll have to install it with WebOS QuickInstall
