My recommendation ...

A Hard Reset and selective restore.

It is the surest way to remove all trace of old programs, and most important of all, any corrupted Saved Preferences which may continue to cause problems even though the initial cause for them has been eliminated.

After the hard reset is done that is recommended above (I personally would not do it except as a last resort), my suggestion is that you install Uninstall Manager (http://www.northglide.com/um.html) and after that, then begin installing your applications. Northglide offers a pack that provides a lot of versatility - http://www.northglide.com/neatfreakpack.html.

Northglide also do a cleanup tool that allows you to find and remove orphaned and unneeded files without the need for a hard reset and selective restore, it's called cleanup and is in our download area http://mytreo.net/downloads/cleanup,523.html

It's an ok piece of software but I think the most thorough job would be to do a hard reset and selective restore. As Ben suggests use install an uninstall manager such as northglides or the freeware destaller lite to try to prevent the build up of orphaned files.

The Northglide Cleanup tool does an excellent job; however, make sure you read the directions, back the device up first, read the directions again, and then play.
