Not sure what Paul's approach is, but I know you can use PicLink to create an 'app' that calls a specific contact. You could use Apt to assign that app to whatever you like.

It turned out I didn't need Apt for my approach. I had made my speed dials work anywhere. When I held down the letter Apt would launch phone and then navigate to the speed dial. I didn't realize at the time that in the Centro speed dials are already universal.
You could do what fstop suggested or if you have a third party launcher that let's you put contacts in you wouldn't even need the app he suggested.
I read your post in the Google Voice forum and my first thought was sounds like he needs Apt. However, most of what you were wanting to do would be tricky to set up and I don't use Google Voice so I couldn't do any testing for you.

Yea, I bet between TAKEphONE, Apt, & Butler you could figure out a way to get your Google Voice running a bit more smoothly. I've never used GV either, but I know TAKEphONE allows for doing pauses & dialing extra digits, sounds like that would help.. & Butler makes your speed dials work universally just (technically, almost) like the Centro's. I think if you give us a more specific example we may be able to at least guide you.

Thanks for the responses. I've used Butler in the past, but I decided not to purchase it. Having the ability to dial from any app using Butler takes a bit of a performance hit (hede) and it really isn't that important to me. Takephone is an awesome app and I think it's still on sale through 9/30. I break down and get it. I used it for its trial period, but decided against it. Maybe I'll download it one more time and give it a shot.

I totally agree. I've said for a long time that there's an alternative to every feature available within Butler, all at a smaller footprint, less performance hit, and completely free. And TAKEphONE is just a great app for those that really want to take control of their phone calls. Lots of little options that just work when you need them.

I am in the same boat. I am trying to get through all of the posts but it's all very confusing to me. I want to have the program 'Card Keeper' open after every reset of my centro, check the 'Detect Unmounted Card' and 'Attempt Card Re-mount' boxes, wait a few seconds then uncheck them and close. I am forced to do this manually or my centro will not read the memory card. I know there is an app that will keep apps from loading up into memory upon a reset that can do the same but I couldn't figure out how to use it correctly either. Any help would be greatly appreciated. fstopstigmata- I have decided that I have no APTitude - I need the absolute apt guide for the totally lost.

Apt can do this and I'll tell you how when I get a chance. Probably won't be until tomorrow. Quick question though. Why do you have to uncheck them? And have you tried another card in your phone?

Thanks for offering to help. I have tried other cards. I think I have way too many apps that load themselves into memory upon a reset which in turn leaves too little resources for my Centro to be able to see the memory card. This is a known issue that I have read somewhere in the forum. As to why the boxes need to be checked and then unchecked, that is the only way that I have found to force my Centro to see the card. Leaving them checked all the time does nothing and I then have to uncheck them first then check them again. I guess it saves a step if the boxes get unchecked prior to closing the app. Apt can do this and I'll tell you how when I get a chance. Probably won't be until tomorrow. Quick question though. Why do you have to uncheck them? And have you tried another card in your phone?

Like PM said, it's "possible" to do, but it's not gonna be completely efficient (and plain may not even work many times), because CardKeeper sometimes will just refuse to reload/mount the card (which is why Jeff made sure to say "attempt" and not "force"). It would be better to use an app with highest (or higher) reset priority to launch something that will force the card to load, like maybe using RNS SoftReset to launch CardInfo after every reset (yes: that app takes priority even over Apt), and then if necessary use Apt to launch your personal default app of choice if you want to do that. (To note, I personally had been doing this very thing with Chatter and LightSpeed, and found it a lot more efficient than using even the individual app "load at reset" options, much less using Apt to control it all).
Please tho do NOT take my advice as gold here - I'm still nowhere near as versed in using Apt as these other doods (I just showed them the box - they opened the madness), so for all I kno I coulda used Apt to do it even better and just didn't kno how (I still BARELY use the thing). But try, find, and do what works for you.

Yeah Dickie's right here. Having RNS: Soft Reset launch Card Info would be better if it will work for you. I tried what you wanted with Apt and it would launch CardKeeper just fine but it wouldn't do anything else. The controls wouldn't work. That happens with some apps and Apt. I've yet to try it with pen tap through Apt but that only works have the time. If you're not familar enough with Apt to know what I'm talking about just trust me try Dickie's way. The good news is if that way will work then going from Card Info to whatever you prefer opened after a reset will be easy with Apt.

Paul- Do you use SkinUI? Ever since I got rid of that my pen taps have worked great.

Don't use SkinUI anymore but haven't messed with Apt much since I stopped using it so it could be the reason why. Still think he's better with Dickie's solution on this one but give it a go fstop and see what you can come up with.
