Stickied as this is a major aid to using a freeware program to personalize your palm.  Paul Can you edit the first post to have a warning to users about mucking there device if APT is used wrong (if it does Huh? still don't use it laugh ) and linking to the Warm Reset section of the resets page. YES! just leave the "*" instead of setting a specific letter, and they will all work!

I have used Apt as my primary launcher in just this way for a long time. My Default Graffiti tab has only 3 lines:

*, Dig+,Fill,Name (for apps like 2day, 2dial, and 4cast)
*, Let+,Fill,Name
>,DA,MetaDA
>,DA,ScreenDumpDA

With these I can launch any app and MetaDA is listed as an option no matter what letter I press. You can use more ">" entries to add commonly used DAs (since Apt doesn't launch DAs like FastLaunch does) and/or a few "Favorite" apps to the bottom of the list for any key held. The two DA options only show on letter presses because I don't really launch apps with digits this way too often - though if I did I would make a minor mod to allow for that.

Having ScreenDumpDA on the bottom of the list makes for easy screen prints from anywhere because after holding a letter I can just slide my thumb up and tap the bottom option easily with my thumbnail.

Is there any way to hide apps from showing up in "*, Let+,Fill,Name"?

I'm not aware of any way to do this in Apt. It would be nice though. Again, another feature that FastLaunch offers that I hope makes its way into Apt 3!

Alright! I'm trying it out as Let (no +) at the moment, I really like it so far!!

Does this approach still give you the DA/Blazer crash problem?

That, and the ability to continue typing more letters to narrow your search down further!

This approach conflicts with takephones search function.  just disable that macro for takephone. I still have the full page i-bar and hi-launcher!

the macro for recent list also has an advantage over the stock recent list.  It shows card apps!

Yea I was just gonna come ask about that.. how do I disable single Apt Macros from certain apps? I don't want to completely disable Apt, just one trigger like that.

Good to know!

Anyone else have this problem:
When I launch this Apt letter-launcher within Blazer and decide I don't want to launch anything, I hit the left nav to exit.  But it freezes Blazer right up where I can't do anything but launch something else with hard buttons.  This happens whether I have it set with Let or Let+.

Yes, it still reboots and for this reason I disable Apt Triggers in Web (and TAKEphONE) due to various annoyances if I don't pay attention to what I'm doing.

Makes sense! Thanks.  I'll kudo you again when I'm allowed to give you another one Grin
Now I've got TAKEphONE set up with Let+ instead, perfect!

Okay, I'll just stick with DBLPlus for my DAs then.  That way my DA-launching controls are constant system-wide.

Does launching apps like this disable the universal speed dialing of favorites on a Centro? I know with Apt setting it to just press should make Apt ignore a press and hold but sometimes this is tricky.

Oh and fstop should mention that about a month ago I gave DBLP another shot. Still don't like the look of it but it does function the best of all the button launchers.

And about Fastlaunch I gave it a shot and really liked it but whenever I launched a DA with it in Blazer and then came back to Blazer all the underlines for links would dissapear until I closed Blazer and reopened it. This even kept happening after I uninstalled Fastlaunch until I did a selective restore of Blazer from before I installed Fastlaunch. Weird.

Oh and one last thing. I'm getting ready to edit my original post like midjo asked. I'm going to mention the possibility of the wrong action in Apt causing a reset loop and post a link to warm reset instructions. I'm also going to mention the importance of installing the aptassist.prc and tell everyone not to be scared off by the overwhelming nature of Apt when you first deal with it and to just ask if they need help. Please read my edit and let me know what you think.

I think it is what was needed!
maybe you could point to one or two simple example macros?
we should tell any new users to start with enable on reset turned off?

anywho...
using apt to search doesn't interfere with press and hold speed dials or app launching...
that's pretty much aL I have right now...

On my 755p the Favorites only work in the Phone app, so I can't speak for the Centro at the moment, but pressing 'E' brings up my Apt app list and holding 'E' calls Voicemail as usual.

Jump on in.

As far as Fastlaunch if the version in the downloads section prc is the latest version then yeah. It's never happened to me with Accessorizer.
