@ Arnie: FastLaunchNice thread! I especially like the idea some have used to actually post config screens too - helps peepul see what's being done to make things work. I'll try to chime in latar when I get a chance... in like a year or so at this point!

I want to set up Apt for a keylauncher - with a long press of each letter opening a list of Apps starting with that letter; that's straightforward. But KC600 takes a long key press to be a capital/number.
Alternatively, maybe I can set up my Apt keylauncher to begin with an 'Option' press and then a long key press. Does anyone know if that can be done - I can't see how?
Either somewhere in the settings or automatically Apt is disabled in fields. For instance holding s is a global shortcut for me that calls my wife Sherri however while typing this reply holding s gets me S.

BTW I figured out what was going on with Apt and Versamail. It just didn't like one of my triggers so I had to choose a different one. So now in Versamail I have hardkey3 set to sync if pushed and spacebar pressed deletes all. Also I have it setup where Versamail now sysnc every 3 hours for part of the day and every 1 hour for part of the day.

Actually, using Apt as a press-and-hold (no 'Option' key necessary) keylauncher works perfectly fine with KC600 installed; as long as you're not within a field, of course. But for what it's worth, I don't see an 'Option>Let+' setting either.

With Apt I have Made a few speed dials and a shortcut to weatherbug universal. In messaging made holding d delete all. In TouchLauncher made pressing spacebar bring up the option to soft reset. In TouchBook made the phone key call the highlighted person and the mail key sms the highlighted person. Did the same in Contact. In Blazer made spacebar bringup the bookmarks screen. Made the backspace key activate the back button. And made several shortcuts to my bookmarks like pressing m takes me to mytreo.net In World Clock made pressing spacebar popup the set alarm menu.
If anyone that uses Apt wants to know how I did these just ask and please post your own uses for Apt so I get more ideas for using this amazingly cool and free program.
Rather than PM you Paul, are you able to post screen shots for how you have each app configured? For me at least, it'd be easier to replicate it that way.

I didn't mean pm. I meant just ask in the thread for a screenshot of what you'd like. I figured posting a screenshot of every setup we all have in Apt would be a waste of time as not everyone is interested in doing the same things. So arcangel which setup would you like me to post a screenshot of.

More than one, actually. :-D
I'd like to see what you did with Blazer, Touchlauncher, and Messaging; I'm hoping to learn from the pattrn and apply it elsewhere.

The messaging and Touchlauncher are pretty self explanatory although you'll notice I had to nav center twice to get through the popup confirnation boxes in messaging. (and now that I look at it I don't know why I didn't put a 2 after center instead of doing it twice). I could have done the same in TouchLauncher but I wanted to have to confirm before a soft reset. In web you'll notice every one begins with the same line to open the bookmarks screen and then I just navigate from there. There is probably a more elegant way to do this but this works for me. Also you can use Pen/CBar to accsess a menu instead of the way I've done it. It even says in Apt's wiki that's a more reliable way but I've had better luck the way I do it.

In attempting to parrot your web setup, it occurred to me that using the spacebar as such might conflict with using it to enter text. Have you bothered to address that in some way, or is it not an issue?

I've also got a related question: how do you know what numbers to put into those blanks (eg- 1114)? I'd like to remap a button or two within Chattermail, yet I don't know where to start.

Apt doesn't take keypresses when you're in a field so as I'm typing this I can hit the spacebar to my hearts content and not pop up my bookmarks. As for the numbers you have to pop up the Apt menu inside of the app you want to create a shortcut for and press get menu or get ctrl and choose the number corresponding to what you want to do. The Apt menu should have already been set to one of the hard keys when you installed Apt. I don't remember which one since I changed mine to v find which is option+find. Check under buttons in default and it should show it there.

Paul - thanks, you are quite right - Apt doesn't take keypresses when you're in a field. That solves my feared conflict between KeyCaps and an Apt keylauncher.
New question: Having set up the Apt keylauncher (*Let+, fill, name), 1) Apt itself doesn't show amongst the applications! 2) Is there any way to exclude applications from showing? 3) I can't pop up the Brightness adjuster with OptionP any more. Does that make sense? Is there a solution?

2 more questions: 1) What do *Tags 1* and *Tags 2* mean (below *Default*)? 2) What do I do if I reach the end of a 'page' - there seems to be no more room for settings? Thanks!

Arnie I can't answer them all but I can answer a few. - Yes Apt doesn't show up inside itself. I think they did this for cautionary reasons. - I don't think you can exclude any app from the list but if you hit the + button you can toggle between listing all apps and listing just the apps you've already made entries for. - The brightness problem I don't know about. Option+p still brings up the slider for me but I haven't made any brightness settings in Apt. I have Brightcam for that. All I can say is look for something that might be stealing the option keypress or the p keypress. - The tags are for saving a shortcut or two you commonly use. Let's say you often have to go up right down. You save that as a tag and then you only have to put tag 1 and use one line instead of three. (Or so I think. I haven't tried this yet) - In the menu you can toggle font when you run out of room and it'll make the font really tiny and give you three or four more lines. After that as far as I know you're done. I hope someone comes along and tells me I'm wrong.
