The 755p also has the rubberized finish. Wink
BONUS!

Are there any software downgrades?  The only thing that comes to mind is Google Maps My Location, I don't use it often, but it would be missed.

The only one that comes to mind is Pocket Tunes. The Centro comes with deluxe and the 755p comes with basic.

As long as it plays music, I'll be happy.  & I'm definitely gonna go cancel our insurance plan soon, it's a rip-off for people who's phones are worth less than like $500

Yup...I had considered insurance, but decided that it isn't worth it.

Okay, got one, should be arriving within the next two days.

Two questions about the software:

1. Is My Location available for the 755?

2. Will I be able to sync my pTunes Deluxe from my Centro backup folder onto my 755?  I'll be using the same UserName, if that makes a difference.  Seems like it should work.

I'm not sure about #1, but #2 is no. The deluxe version that comes on the Centro cannot be used on other devices. It's smarter than I expected... goofy You need to use the bundle version in the 755p's ROM.

What about if I've upgraded to a non-rom pTunes Deluxe?

Also, would it be better to HotSync my username over to the 755 or use my last NVBackup?  I'm afraid that if I do the NV it'll have some unwanted side affects.

MyLocation does not work on the 755; only latest firmware of the Centro - in fact, I don't kno that a Centro Rom Mod (if someone ever did it) would enable MyLocation because the hardware may be different, tho I'd definitely be hopeful... and def still want that mod regardless.

I agree about the whole insurance thing now, especially with Sprint/Lockline changing their replacement procedures/costs - wish I woulda dropped it sooner than just 2 months ago (although not a week after I dropped it... I dropped the 700 from a pretty good distance and damaged the SD loader - it still works, but with some rather strange happenings

As far as the syncing/restoring, you can restore it directly fully as the devices are similar; you'd run into a few inconsistencies along the way, tho most of them can just be fixed/changed when they appear... nevertheless, alwaysthemore, I still usually recommend a fresh install.

Got it and LOVE it.  The 755p's got all the quality, professional, solid, well-made feel that the Centro was lacking.  Wish I woulda made the switch long ago. Thanks guys!

Glad you like the 755p. Smiley

The difference between the $299 and a $99 device...made in Taiwan vs. made in China. Wink

Yea, as an update: the Centro version of Google Maps did transfer over, with My Location showing, but it just gives a long 'Centro only' window when I try using it.  As for pTunes, I'm assuming it's Basic, because I cannot find streaming radio (that's one of the differences, right?) no big loss here.

I also love that the LED automatically blinks when you have a new notification (and it just started blinking red as I'm typing this for low battery- cool!).  Does it continue to blink indefinitely until the notification is cleared, or does it stop after a set time?  I'm also glad that I can do the orange and red LED setting in AttnGrab/Butler (red isn't controlable on the centro- they really downgraded in that department for some reason.. cost?)  so I can actually set different colors for different things.

For the record, I've also noticed that there's a small difference in the Calendar app: On the Centro 'Day' display it shows 'Today' and 'Tomorrow' (and 'Yesterday'?) accordingly, but the 755p does not.

I know there's a couple others I've noticed, but can't recall at the moment.  I think I'll write up a post in a week or two on switching Centro-755p, I think I'd convince a lot of users to try it out instead of just getting a replacement Centro when the situation arises.

I don't think the LED automatically blinks...mine does because of Butler.

As for the calendar differences...I think you should be able to install the Centro's version of the calendar on top of the 755p's. You'll need to get your hands on another Centro or the Cento simulator though.

I installed the Centro one from my backups folder, it still didn't change it though.

But yea, my LED blinked for notifications before I even had Butler installed (I only re-installed it after I saw the blinking green to see of the orange would work, too).

The calendar app isn't backed up. It's part of the ROM.

Yea you're right, I re-checked my folder & realized I just synced the databases.

I just disabled Butler & AttnGrab and it definitely does blink the LED for a missed alert.
