Did the update. Restored with NVBackup. All seems good. Google maps found me. Sort of. It was close. Good enough if I was lost in a city and had no idea where to go. It would be helpful. I don't see any difference in BT. But I have not used my BT yet either. BT setup screen looks the same to me. Did not see any difference in Gmail IMAP. It would be nice if Palm would be more detailed. I already had Gmail setup so I did not get to see "new setup wizard" I did not use SprintTV much before so I cant say much about that. However, my centro seems louder and clearer. At least when using SprintTV. Thats about all I can say other then it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy to have latest Firmware. I will post more if I see any changes or improvements.

Palm Description of the update, since I don't see it spelled out here.
The Sprint Palm® Centro™ software update 1.07 offers the following performance enhancements:
* Improved Gmail IMAP compatibility and an updated setup wizard with the new Gmail settings * Updated compatibility for Google Mobile Maps My Location feature to approximate your current location – great for directions, finding nearby restaurants or business, or checking local traffic.1 * Improved ongoing delivery of email sent to VersaMail accounts using Microsoft's Direct Push Technology via Exchange ActiveSync * Bluetooth usability enhancements and updates * Sprint TV performance enhancements2 * Enhanced AOL Instant Messenger performance * Improved performance when adding a contact using Mobile Voice Control * Improved email attachment handling * Changed default camera shutter sound to “ON.” Audible shutter “click” will be heard when taking photos * Allows Preferred Roaming List updates over the air
1 - Location is an approximation based on digital towers and is not GPS. You will need to download the latest Google Mobile Maps version to your phone after installing the Centro software update. Within wireless coverage area only. Messaging, email, and web require data services from a mobile service provider at an additional cost. Google Maps for Mobile may not be available for certain areas. Please see Google Mobile Maps for more details.
2 - Sprint TV is available within wireless coverage area only. Requires data service at additional cost. Additional fees required for some services.

Google maps found me. Sort of. It was close. Good enough if I was lost in a city and had no idea where to go. It would be helpful. About the same here. The desktop (sync-style) update worked fine after I associated .hta files with the Microsoft HTML Application Host program. My Location in Google Maps works about as well as expected. Sitting at home last night, the best guess was never really close to me, but I was usually in or a few blocks outside of the error estimate circle. I tried it at red lights on the way to work this morning, and it was generally better -- sometimes the blue dot was only a few blocks away from my actual location (still some large error estimates though). So, the results seem to be variable, and I'm not sure exactly what's making it better in some places than others. But it would probably be helpful in a new place where you're really not sure where you are, or to find business or something near your current location. It's not real GPS, but it may get close enough for certain locating needs.

Hey.... What's stupid about it? I don't hotsync my Centro either and I did the update without ever attaching a desktop to it. I downloaded the updater zip to a clean card and updated the Centro from the card.. After the update ran, I did a complete restore from Resco Backup. Everything is as it was, except the ROM is updated. It was painless. It all took about 20 minutes..... You don't have to hotsync or install the update from a desktop. You can restore the Centro RAM from a good backup program. Chuck

Personally I chose to do the desktop method because I did not want to have to work with my MicroSD card. Unfortunately back in the day I was sent the wrong one, it was the right size but a slower version. I didn't want to have to go through the process again of backing up everything on that, and attempting to restore on a god-awful slow connection with it. The desktop version worked great; ran NVBackup -> Synchronized -> Performed update -> Ran NVBackup, restored the file from my card... boom, no issues. The only other thing I had to do was to update Google Maps... no biggie.
Does anyone know what kind of Bluetooth enhancements there were? One I'm curious about is the ability to play your ringtone through the bluetooth. I have a motorola Q, and not only does it beep in the earpiece when I get a message, but it also plays my ringtone through the earpiece when the phone was ringing. I'm not sure if it is just two completely different technology between the phones, or something that a mere update could resolve.
Also, did they ever release a .6 version? Mine is a new phone (replaced) and it was .5.

I am extremely frustrated. I had absolutely no problems with the interface between my Centro and my '07 BMW 6 series until installing the new Palm update 1.07. Now, the phone and my car's bluetooth pair normally, but none of my contacts will upload to the carkit and the car's screen perpetually remains in the 'please wait' mode. I performed a hot sync before updating the phone and after with no problem. All my contacts are back on the phone and assigned to the same buttons they were before the update.
Since I had absolutely no problem with bluetooth compatibility between my Centro and BMW before the Palm/Sprint update (which apparently included an update to 'improve' bluetooth functionality), I would like to revert back to the previous Centro operating system version, recognizing that I will lose the upgrade of Google Maps. Alternatively, I could just revert back to the previous version of bluetooth, if possible.
Obviously, I would not have installed this update had I known I would lose my bluetooth compatibility and functionality. Why, if the previous firmware version gave me perfect compatibility with the bluetooth in my 6 series BMW, would Palm release an update that does not. Seems ridiculous to me.
Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated. BTW, I've already tried doing soft and hard resets of my Centro, re-pairing, etc., without success.

Your frustration is understood. Unfortunately, there isn't any way to "revert" back to the previous version, as you've already discovered via your hard and soft reset attempts. If I were in your situation, I would contact customer service to see what they may be able to do. Perhaps they may be willing to swap devices? Just an idea to work into the conversation... Good luck!!!
