Thanks again.
I do seem to have uncovered an issue. I've been having problems with the palm turning itself off when I'm using they stylus only. I'll be web browsing tapping the screen and it will suddenly go dark as if I'd waited too long and it timed itself out. I have the time out set at 30 sec so I'm sure that's not the problem. It doesn't seem to do it when I'm using the keyboard. Wondering if anyone else has had this issue.

this may need a new topic I'm not sure what could be causing that. Does it react when you are using the stylus (i.e. if you click a link with the stylus does the link open?)

Yep. Works totally normal, except suddenly, if I haven't used a hardware button for a while (only been using the touch screen) it will power off.

While I personally haven't seen it - I pretty much NEVER use the stylus and very rarely go touchscreen-only - I think I've heard reports of this on both Sprint and VZW. Does this occur on the stock 755? Or is it a Blazer issue? I mean it could be a mod issue I guess, tho it'd be a wIErd one.

Thanks for the reply. I've had a few days to mess with it, and I think you may be right in that it's a Blazer issue. I haven't had it happen with any other application. Otherwise, the 755 mod seems to work really well. I'm gonna try testing the bluetooth as others have said they've had issues with it.

To me it's I guess about the same. I admit tho I really don't use bluetooth much - read NEVER (in fact I use IR to transfer small stuff between my devices more than blootoof, unless using FTP with RescoExplorer) - but in my use, it's seemed the same I guess.
When I got my new 700 last month, I tried to keep it as a 700 to see if I would really miss the 755 mod - I did. Main thing for me was the Messaging App update and a few other small things.

I agree about the messaging. I actually had both a 700w and 700p at the same time, trying to decide which one I liked better. I do a lot of texting, and the 700/755p messaging app is SO much better it made the decision for me. I do wisht the 700p had better email options. I STILL can't get Chattermail to work with my yahoo account...

Ok... have a problem now. I had successfully updated my 700p to the 755p software using MiDoJo's package. I just tried to do it with another friends palm and it's stuck in a loop. Every time the Verizon splash screen comes up after it boots as the phone is coming on, it stops and reboots. I've been able to get it to skip turning on the phone by soft resetting it while holding the Up button. It will then start correctly and get to the palm OS as if it was in flight mode. If I try to turn on the phone at that point, it goes into the loop again. I've tried re-installing the update, and also down grading back to the former ROM all with not improvement. When I'm in the palm preferences and I go to the Network settings, it says it can't find the network library. I'm figuring this is the problem. Any ideas how I can fix this... I'm embarrassed that I've messed up my friends phone!

Nevermind... Fixed it. Very weird. It would appear you have to have the most recent update (version 1.10) from Palm on your 700p before applying the 755 upgrade. This may have been mentioned before, but I missed it. If you apply the update to a stock phone (version 1.06), it will erase the Network Library from the firmware and disable the phone portion of the software. To reverse this you have to apply the 1.10 update from the SD card (the desktop updater won't work cause the phone gets stuck in a loop), and then apply the 755 update. Thanks again to MiDoJo for making this happen. It's a worthy update to this phone. -Malcolm

Max, Kudos for you for figuring it out. I thought I had replied but I guess I forgot to press post I'm going to update my post to say that the latest (either 1.10 or 1.11) firmware is installed

Right back at you MiDoJo. Thanks for putting this package together. I really hated what the 1.10 update did to the sounds on my 700p and was ecstatic when you provided a fix.

Does the hotsync app on the phone work any better with this update? I'm in bad place where I can't sync my contacts or calendar to my PC using USB or bluetooth. I've messed with it and messed with it. Eventually even turned on/created the wireless sync account to sync to VZW and turned on the "enable other sync apps" and "share database with another conduit" but the hotsync application on the phone seems to skip right over contacts and calendars during a hotsync. I go into Hotsync and make sure that Conduits still has contacts-- and it has two-- Contacts and ContactsLib-P1CT.
The log goes "Ok Outlook Tasks, Ok Outlook Notes, Ok Voice Memo synchronization failed Ok Ok Media Ok Backup with message(s)"
I'm convinced I need to somehow remove all the Verizon sync stuff and have strictly normal Palm Outlook conduits on the Palm side. Or, maybe the 755p will fix that?

This Firmware replacement will not fix this issue. (well it fix it will but only becasue you hardreset before doing it.) But you are correct If you have VZW Wireless sync in place you will NOT be able to hotsync and you will, in fact get the Log you are getting. To get rid of verizon Wireless sync Delete Wireless sync from the Device (From launcher Menu+D) If this doesn't work. Backup your data to an SD card (Using NVBackup or other such progream) Hardreset and selectivly restore everything except WirelessSync Programs. Here are my instructions http://mytreo.net/forum/index.php/topic,64012.msg491008.html#msg491008Also I have heard but cannot check Because it would Activate Wireless sync on my phone, that there is a preference in Wireless sync to allow other (Hot)syncing to occur Things this firmware "upgrade" will do are Add Documents to go to the ROM Add GoogleMaps 1.0.2 to the ROM Remove (or make quieter) the beeping that happens when a ringtone is played.

I'm totally new at this and have a quick question before I try the 755 update. I use wireless sync only for e-mail push, not to update contacts, calendar, etc. I use hotsync to do those. If I install this 755 update, are you saying that I will not be able to use wireless sync and also hotsync my device?

???? While I don't know for sure I believe the version of Wireless sync is exactly the same and you should not have any problem doing this. Remember you may be (unsure) walking a dangerous line in "Updating" to the 755 with out being well versed in your phone. Neither Your carrier nor Palm approve of this Firmware switching and I do not Guaranty it, it is DO AT YOUR OWN RISK. AFAIK If you can Currently use wireless sync and also hotsync, then after the Firmware exchange, you should still be able to do the same. The Post above was about Wireless Sync (again only in my Opinion) being evil and was written including this quote Also I have heard but cannot check Because it would Activate Wireless sync on my phone, that there is a preference in Wireless sync to allow other (Hot)syncing to occur
