Just wanted to say thanks!
Upgraded my 700p this morning. I was done start to finish in about 30 minutes. I restored my data using Backupbuddy and there were no issues other than I needed to reinstall the Java library again so Opera Mini would work again. I was able to update using *228 without issues.
The phone is more responsive than before. I'm pretty sure my battery life is better. Usually by the end of the day, I was down to about 40% on my 2600mAh Seidio battery. Right now, with the same level of usage, I'm at 70%. I can't come up with a negative.
Thanks again.

Thanks for the response. I put a new 2gb sd card in the Treo and formatted- 12kb used I believe. I then downloaded the 755 updater to my decktop and then copied it to my card. It appeared while it was still ;oaded in the card reader in my desk top. That is, the info is now on my card. After hard resetting the treo, I inserted the card into the Palm 700P. It was showing as inserted, when I went to the home menu, it appeared. But the screen is empty,

Hi let me look at my package and make sure everything is in the right place Are you saying when you open the CARD screen you see no programs? It sounds like you did not set the card up right
With your formatted Card in your PC, put ONLY THE ROM and PALM FOLDERS and make sure they are at the root of the drive (NOT subfolders in some other folder such as "m:\CONVERT VZW 700p to VZW 755\ROM" where m:\ is the letter of your drive
Insert the Card into the Device and Go to the home button press until the card comes up. You should see ROMUPDATER. Click on it and a bunch of words will scroll by Then type ventura EASY That said if you don't know what you are doing you NEED TO BE CAREFUL.

That is great info. When I put the card in the 700, and locate it on the home screen, nothing shows on the screen, no "rom updater, nothing. So I must have copied it incorrectly yo the card from the PC. I saved it to my desktop from the internet file and then copied it to my card. I don't think it copied correctly. No, the PALM file on the card opens to "Launcher", but it is EMPTY !. I told you I am a neophyte. This is a GREAT resource. I will update on my progress from here. One question, I used the speed dial feature, press and hold to dial #'s. The personal preferences aren't stored anywhere, Wireless Sync or Hotsync. Can you recommend a program to save these settings? I have some lengthy add'l info on several #'s and it is bothersome to reload after doing a hard reset. Thank you!

Hi folks. it's the neophyte. I've extracted the files, I guess they were saved on the Pc in a zip format. I extracted them to the card and now all the files show up. I am awaiting any help on a program for saving preferences. Thanks again

Just wanted to post at THANKS MiDoJo! I had previously upgraded my 700p and been stuck with the annoying sound issues that resulted.
MiDoJo's ROM files worked perfectly for me. It took me a minute to figure out that you had to type the "ventura" command at the bottom of all the text that results when you run the ROM loader. Just scroll down to the bottom, put the cursor at the end of it all and type it and push return. Boots right up and installs no problem.
The only issue I've noticed is the sounds seem to be not as loud as they were before the 700P upgrade (the same increasing volume on alerts issue), so I'm thinking it was a programming decision and not a bug. There's also a warning screen that comes up when you set your volume to the loudest setting in the sounds menu warning you of potential hearing damage from loud volume levels so I think Palm is just trying to cover their ass.
Thanks again to everyone who made this happen. I'm REALLY glad there are smart people out there like you who can solve problems since Palm is so inept. -Malcolm

Glad I could help, Make sure to search the 755 boards and see if anyone has a fix for the Volume Issue. Mine Just kinda sits on my nightstand so I haven't done much with volume (though I did play airhockey 3D Against myself (from 700.55 to my centro ) and report back so people can hear/read your experiences. If the volume is too low for you try volumecare or Phone Technician
