We did a survey on the ringtone manager they are using and if they are happy about it. Out of 200 respondents with 5% error margin, below is the result:

32% - Ringo***
27% - mRing***
11% - Ringcare***
9%   - CallFilter**
9%   - LightWav**
9%   - MiniTones/Music Tones***
3%   - Built-in MIDI or NONE

Legend:

** - Either not properly working or crash their Treo during incoming calls.
*** - No option to filter/block SMS or calls.

The late release of SMS Machine is due to this survey.

Hi,

I tested SMS Machine now... when receiving a call and AUTO PELY THEN BLOCK, SMS Machine tells me BLOCK FAILED... and no SMS is being sent. I dont know why.

So I have to give up on SMS Machine.

Suggestions:

1) I suggest that instead of putting the phone number in the RULES NAME files, put the name of the person in the names field... this would make it much more clear to handle.

2) COPY and PASTE is not working when entering the AUTO REPLY text... this is rather cumbersome...

3) it is not clear if SMS is being erased or not - after BLOCK or AUTOREPLY... so its rather hazardous to have this function. I am not clear about the features...

Thank you anyway for your effort.. hope to see a software that is a bit improved form handeling and features.

I've tried SMS Machine and it works as advertised for the SMS part (though I wish that there is an option to ignore an SMS wherein an "ignored SMS" will still be added to the Treo's inbox without any alerts). The only thing keeping me from buying this software is that when blocking a call my Treo 680's lcd will light up and vibrate for 1-2 seconds before   SMS Machine will kick in and BLOCK the call. Upon checking the SMS Machine log, it lists BLOCK (FAILED). Hope this problem gets addressed soon as I really like this software and would definitely buy it once the call blocking issue is resolved.

So if you want to improve the speed, remember that incoming call/SMS notification is First In, Last Out (FILO) on our Treo. 3rd party software just registers itself into Palm OS' notifications. The last software that you've installed usually gets the incoming notification first. Unless otherwise, the developer designs his software to deliberately intercede with the system priority which is not advisable.

hey mate,
have the same prob with blocking...
lcd lights up and vib starts 2-3 times... smsm kicks in and blocks and the log says failed...
does it help to delete LW/smsm and reinstall smsm -> LW?

The only software I have that may interfere with the incoming call notification is Butler to which I have set the Attention Grabber option. Don't know if this affects SMS Machine. I'm curious as to when the next version of SMS Machine will be released and are customers entitled to free updates?

Yes, definitely. You have a lifetime free update and support.

I'm also running into problems - I've tried 1.01 and 1.03 - same problem. It won't actually reply to SMS's. I'm not using any call managers - the tone I'm using for incoming texts is one of the treo 755p's built-in ones. It always shows a blue box for the incoming number, and then says "Failed" for the outgoing SMS machine message. I'd love for this to work... any suggestions?
