Hey Rob, nice job!! (poet and didn't know it) I just downloaded the app from work where I normally get 0-1 bar and after the reset it went up to 3.  Sometimes it all of a sudden goes to zero but its only for a few seconds but its been holding steady at 3 for now.  Thanks!!!!!

So, it seems like the functionality might be affected by the ROM used since it works on some, but not others.  Could be version of the OS, too.  Is this hidden function available in more than one major release of the Palm OS?

I have a sprint 755p... no noticeable difference in bars.... but it also didn't really seem to affect the battery either.

Holy Signal Batman!!! There are more people reading this thread than I've ever seen on MTDN b4.

Rob, I haven't tested this Beta and will probably not (two reasons the first being I really don't currently have a signal problem. and the second being the point of this post)
From the Replies Rob has already received it seems to me that This is a hook that verizon (as the are infamous for doing) has locked out.

Can sprint, AT&T/cingular, UK/EU Phone customers confirm this.  VZN locks the ability to change Network Providers (and thusly I would suppose, the Phone library)  Do any of these other companies do the same?

how about (allthough I doubt there are any b/c vzn's network changed with the MR) Treo 700p/s that have not had the latest MR.  The Reason I ask this is that the New MR brought the 700 to be pretty much a 755.  755 users are not seeing any difference and neither are any responding VZN 700s.
Sprint is CDMA and it works
Cingular is GSM and it works
VZN is CDMA and it doesn't work
755 it doesn't work.
We need a developer with access (either real or Virtual PalmOS) VZN 700 Patched not patched, and access to a 650, a 700, and a 755 from various Networks, to try this.

hey midojo, you say that it's not working with the 755 series, however I just posted to say that I have a 755p and am seeing 6 bars for the first time ever! Not sure how you can decide that it doesn't work for everyone with a 755p...psychic ability notwithstanding  idea

Sprint is CDMA and it works

Well, according to my two tests (see somewhere above) on a Treo 755p (Sprint, ROM 1.07) it does not make a difference on the RSSI value whether or not BarBooster is active or not.

Cheers.

In contrast to which, I just ran another series of tests in 10 different locations around my home with my *Verizon* 755p with results consistent with those of yesterday with the same VZW unit, namely no discernible difference at all with BarBoost on or off, as measured by PowerHero mA discharge rate, and by  1X RSSI  and EVDO RSS,  using the Phone app  #*#debug#.  Further support for the Sprint/Verizon dichotomy being noted.

Hmm...  Might just be me, but this sounds a touch too good to be true.  And seeing the post just barely after midnight on 4/1...

I'm willing to believe in the skills of the Robmeister, but I'll probably wait a day.   Cool

(If nothing else, this was good for the links reminding me how to get all the good phone info with #*#DEBUG#, etc.)

Does anyone out there know anything about mobile radio/network technology?

I'm wondering if you can shed any more light on what the

Fixed Origin Originator Linkup

function might actually be doing?

I found takephone started crashing after I installled it. Also, I had a wierd effect were they key gaurd would automatically appear after a call ended and it switched back to Takephone. I had to do a hard reset and reinstall from a previous day to end this affect.

The file is awfully small...hmmm...large enough simply for a couple of buttons and "reset" functionality...
