We have Cool Treo Apps!

« on: 15 February 2008, 01:22:55 »

PictureLink is the easiest way to dial a phone number, launch a website site, compose email and sms, get a predefined Google Map, change PocketTunes™ playlist and run applications from SD card.

Picture Link is system utility to create short cut links with customized picture on the Launcher. Short cut link can be launched on the Launcher just like any application. There are 8 different short cuts that you can create: Dial a phone number, Compose a new email, Compose a new SMS, launch a website, get Google map, launch a Kinoma streaming site, change Application’s icon and running application off the SD card and Play a PocketTunes™ Playlist.
With short cut link you no longer have to search the Contact to dial your most dialed numbers. You can even assign the short cut key to any hard button and instantly dial the person. All short cuts can be assigned to a hard key for quick launch.

If you are a PocketTunes™ user you can easily create short cut play list and instantly switch playlist without launching PocketTunes™.

SMS and Email templates can be created. This will eliminate time consuming process to launch the SMS or Email application and then select New to compose a message. With short cut you can start typing as soon as the short cut is launched.

Short cuts can be created for applications on the SD card and can be run on the Launcher. The advantage of creating a short cut is to save main memory and to have all the applications in one category thus you do not have to look search Categories.

Picture Link is compatible with the Treo® Launcher application and 3rd party Launchers.

How do you edit a link you have already created?  Or do you have to delete it and create a new one?

I like it.  You guys keep coming out with some pretty cool stuff.  Something I would like to see is a software similar to BrightCam which I have tried, but causes nothing but problems with my 700P and something else I came across the other day Pickem.  A replacement software for the built-in Sprint photo messaging software.  I downloaded Pickem and installed it, but I get a picture library error.  Not surprising since it was last updated I think back in 2005 and it does state that it was for the 600 only.  If ToySoft would come out with something similar I would purchase it.  Thanks.

Meaning you just want a default for web and dont want to select an image?

Now if we can get shortcuts to apps (and scarier still - even FILES) on the SD Card, this would REALLY be a winner...

(Of course, this is far more complex than what PicLink is meant to do for now, so I'll give you an extra day to implement this Tongue)

LOL!!! If he could creat links to the sd card apps, it would pretty much replace a launcher.

So my Allimom sees right through me, of course... Tongue

I'm thinking more along the lines of an app like ZLink than a full-blown launcher, but I mean come on - Danny IS like the only gratest star developers who hasn't created a launcher... this could be a start yes

hehehe...back in the old days like 2000 i created Workbench which launches apps from main memory and SD card much like what HiLauncher is doing now.
A Window like Start menu.

i'm happy with the Palm lauch.  dont need all that fancy coloring, background etc... just making it too complex and too busy looking.

btw, there is no need to create a short cut for sd card.  you just switch to the SD card files on the launcher.  Isn't that enough?

Hahaha - yeah I actually had put a line about myworkbench in that original post, but deleted it (that was more of a file manager to me I guess...)

But the main difference is that apps on the card can't be assigned as favorites or mapped to hardkeys - links in RAM can.  But n e what, I'm jus thinkin bout the possibilities more than my own desires wit PicLink - I mainly like it for the dial links alone, especially the fact that they provide an EASY way to extract contact photos from the ContactsDB.

(Random thought... why haven't I trialed SMSPager yet?)
