Just did this and it worked.

To add to the instructions a bit.

ok, here is a more simplified way to convert your treo 700p to a 755. for now this is sprint ONLY!

1) download this zip file:
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=DHM0I1FO

2) extract this zip to a CLEAN sd card. this should leave you with the following two folders on your sd card:

PALM
ROM

2.5) After that you will have to go into the palm folder and create a launcher folder and move both updater prc apps into the launcher folder within the palm folder

3) Insert the SD card into your treo and launch the romupdater from your application launcher. it should say "VENT" and "DVT" ( in the very first line of an info screen it will end with the word vent. in the second line in the info screen it will end in dvt)

4)Type "ventura" (without the quotes) and press enter ( put the cursor all the way at the bottom of the updater screen and sart off a new line to type in the word ventura)

thats it, welcome to your new 755 ( in about 5-10 minutes of reflashing it reboots. (I had hard reset my phone before hand))

thanks kokoman for figuring this out

Thanks for him to rewrite it
I think he writes better/understandable english then I do.

So far Everything is as stated except in and hours time I have received 3 text messages from 9114 with and odd 4 lines worth of code??? I'll leave it alone and see how it works and report back tomorow. O well I looked in the bluetooth prefs like eazye [osted in the 755 forum and there was an option in the menu for bluetooth audio. I enabled ptunes and changed the frequency to 48hz and put the quality to high. I then enabled bluetooth and the bluetooth audio menu was gone Sad

Thank GOD,  I got it working.  I did not have the newest update for the 700p so I just up dated with that and the put in the 755 update.   So far it is working very well.  Smiley Smiley  But I am guessing from now on I have to treat my Treo like its a 755??

Text messages from 9114 are related to Sprint Mobile Email - did you have that program before and not reinstall it after the update?

Hey...

9114 is a text message from the Yahoo server telling you that you have Yahoo mail in the SME app.

The only way to get rid of it, is to reinstall the SME app and re-do the Yahoo server settings to not send a text message.

The Text Message "push" is set in the Yahoo server, not on the device. So you have to use SME to un-do the "push"

exactly. Reinstall the Sprint Mobile Email, and program it for the same email programs.

9114 is a silent text that signals that program to get its email - sort of like simulated Push.

You have to go in it and make it inactive first before deleting the program to shut off those messages.

Don't use Palm's updater to update... thats what bricked many 700p in the first MR
I used romupdater and it was always ok

Alright just to back up  Kocoman on this one.

Its been 3 days I havent added any programs and just added Kinoma. No resets so far and Ive tried with LJP. lol

Here are some pictures of my 700p

And here is the new bletooth menu. It seems to disappear every once in a while.

Kudos  to Kocoman for making this possible.

At the very least i got free bejeweld and revised programs. Oh versamail seems to work better with this  updated software.

Thanks Kocoman.  This might just make the 700p what it was meant to be.

Oh and the annoying dial tone is gone when sounds are made.

People at 755p forum just said the DTMF sounds are just very faint, but still exist.  but I don't use the palm while on the phone usually.

I will post the restore roms (type 'ventura' again) for Sprint "1.10" and Verizon "_1.10") later in case someone want to revert.

If Palm does make another MR update the 700p (ie: 1.11), you should still be able to flash it with its 'updater' because your version string is still "1.10 MR 700p"
---
Edit/add:

RESTORE PACK BACK TO 700p SPRINT (\ROM) 1.10 and Verizon 1.10 (needs rename to ROM) ONLY
(only difference between Verizon 1.10_MR and Verizon 1.10-MR is the Modem firmware. (to fix the Data 3000 error)

ACTUAL 700p to 755P 1.07 update at FIRST THREAD..!! not this one!
Please don't flash this one then ask me why its still a 700p.

Please only download if you want to REVERT
http://rapidshare.com/files/91097381/KEEPNOCDMAUpdaterroms.rar.html
(Revert if you have BT issues (ie: 2 users had loop resets with the 755p to 700p upgrade)

Also:

It will say like: (I forgot the exact output, this is from memory)
-----------------------
......
Validating... /ROM/ventura-IPL-dvt..... OK!
Validating... /ROM/ventura-SPL... OK!
Validating... /ROM/ventura--BL... OK!

Validating... /ROM/ventura-rom.zip (wait for a while)........................... OK!
........
----------------------
Then it scrolls off............
---------------------

from file: 36... (more hex numbers - I could not copy in time)

From Flash: fe.. (more hex numbers - I could not copy in time)

..diff

token: HRST

DeleteToken Success!

token: Nohr

DeleteToken Success!

The device will automatically reboot after flashing rom

flasing section...
------------------------

THE DEVICE WILL FREEZE! (even if you plug in the charger, etc it doesn't charge)
All you can do is wait, don't move the device/battery cover etc. I took a shower. (I did not time it) Then after I showered..

.. It show the "Date and Time Screen"

SUCCESS (for me anyways)

Ok, tried updating my phone...when I use the 755p update, all I get is the message that the ROM version is wrong and to contact sprint, and my phone radio will not turn on.  When I try to update with the 1.10MR, my phone goes into a boot loop.

Does anyone have any suggestions???  Or can someone post a link to the 1.10MR file that works.

Thanks,
Dennis

Hey....

Use the SD card method of doing the ROM flash. The link below is to the MTDN library for the June 21st (last Sprint release) 700p ROM update using the file for the SD card method.....

ok, so I've read everything posted on here about this 700p to 755 update and it sounds cool.  I just have a few questions.....
1.   what are the benifits of doing this?
2.  any drawbacks or cons?
3.  do I have to get new registration codes for all the software I have purchased for my 700p. or can I just restore all the stuff I backed up before the convert.

thanks

#3 - most software that runs on the 700p will run on the 755 with the same registration codes.  Any that don't, you can contact the developer with your purchase information, and they will issue you a new code.
