So I guess i'm the only one seeing this, but i'm having a problem taking the files from the ZIP folder onto the card.  The ZIP folder has two copies of ._.DS_Store and .DS_Store, so when I copy the files from the unzipped folder onto my 2g card, it only allows me to chose on or the other of those two files.  I've tried using one and the other, but each time I try to update, the phone says the files are invalid and doesn't update Sad

On a side note, why does it seem many of you like Versamail?  I liked Sprint Mobile Email, it put that cool little Sprint Icon w/ the number of emails I have waiting to be read....only issue I had w/ it is that even after I read the email, the number count doesn't always go down accordingly.  Versa doesn't work w/ Hotmail, which makes it pointless to me.

Cancel that....figured it out.

I had to put the ROMupdater PRC type files into the self-made folder PALM/Launcher, the the remaining files into a another self-made folder called ROM.  She's updating as we speak Smiley

I'd still like to know about VersaMail vs SprintMobileEmail.  Sprints checked any email name I threw at it, but like I said it has it querks.  Versa won't check Hotmail, so now what?  Does the Centro version of VersaMail have a fix for checking Hotmail accounts?

So when I download Lightspeed, do I wanna use the 700p or the 755p version after the ROMUpdate.  PXA Clocker has become absolutely useless regardles of settings, kills ANY use of the camera of camcorder, etc.  Hell, today I had to use my 650 to take a 2 min video....i'm almost getting annoyed w/ the 700/755 already, regardless of the extra internal memory.  Simple things like moving the cursor down on the main dialpad screws brings up the Favorite Buttons slower than crap, SprintMobileEmail doesnt give me the Sprint icon anymore showing how many new emails I have, etc.  Advice to make this phone at least work as well as my 650? Smiley

Thanks a lot for all the walkthroughs. Did the update last night and it worked great. I haven't yet seen the "Bluetooth Audio" menu though, but I guess that's not too important.

I noticed some people have said they got the new IM app to work, but it doesn't seem to be working on mine. The first time I opened the IM app it took me to the sprint site to download an app for $0/month. After downloading it, it says the application is not authorized for use with my device every time I open "IM". Any ideas?

Same for me an using IM....I guess the question still needs to be answered as to if the version number needs to change after this update, which version of Lightspeed I should have downloaded, etc

Can the 755p ROM be used on a 650 to upgrade it?  I've tried to use ROMTool, but it says the ROM is missing the bootini.file and the ROMUpdater file here causes the 650 to reset, so does that mean I need a 650 ROMUpdater file?

Bump.  Now that i've updated my 700p to the 755p ROM it totally took over the bluetooth meaning once it's paired to the 700/755 it doesn't connect to my old 650 anymore unless I manually redo it everytime.  Before when I had two 650's it wasn't an issue, its just whichever rang first got control of the BT.  It seems that since the 755p can do the A2DP stuff, it takes over.  Any ideas on how I can fix that if I can't use the 755p ROM on my 650?

was anybody able to get the "IM" app to work ?  phone seems to be more stable after applying this neat trick...if u want it to run even faster, try UNCACHE app from palmpowerups.com...its kinda like a defragger for palm os devices....

So this update doesn't do anything to the phone feature, right?
I want to do this update, but kind of scared...
Can I roll back everything later?

I rolled everything back once Sprint 700p ROM Updater on their site, which after the whole reflash basically made it have all the same programs it had when "stock".  Still slower than crap though, so far i'm not happy w/ the 700p or the converted to 755p upgrade.  It's back to the 755p upgrade again, only becuase I wanted the ringtone and figured maybe it's work it's bugs out and start running better....no luck.

-Slow reaction time between apps
-Takes a couple of clicks on either the phone or home button to get it to wake up
-When pushing the cursor down from the wallpaper/dialpad screen, the menu pops up in chunks instead of a nice smooth scroll
-Once in a while switching from apps, it's either reset or just give me a blank white screen, forcing me to reset
-CONSTANTLY forgets which Bluetooth it's paired to, regardless of which one I use.  When it is paired, it takes over the BT completely so I cant use it on my 650 unless I re-pair it to that 650.  Once the 700 rings to it though, the 650 has to be re-paired.
-Lightspeed and PXA work OK at best, but none seem better than the other.  Definately requires different setting for BUS speed and MULTIPLICATION, which I found odd since it uses the same processor.

Short of more memory and the 1 extra ringtone that I happen to like, I fail to see ANY improvement....if anything it's slower.  Anyone have advice?

My beautiful wife and I love our Treo's!!!!!

Some Treos just work better than others. I have no ide why.  When I used to have a 650 The new one i had was lost and had to get a refurb. The refurb worked better than my original one.

Ive had several 700p's some new some refurb. It didnt matter if it was one or the other some just worked well others didnt.

Speaking of which I was toying with my daughters 650 (used to be mine) and it was so snappy even compared to my wifes Centro. The 700 just had too many problems since it was made to run both palm and wm.

I personally didnt have any major problems with my 700p but it worked even beter after this update.

I was having a wickedly bad time with my 700p dropping my 16GB card, even with CradleCare installed.  Flashed the 755 ROM on, and not a drop yet!!!  WOO HOO!!!
