I use zlauncher and it has a tab option to display hidden files on a particular tab. I did look at resco explorer and that does not have option nor does initiate. Once displayed they do not allow you to edit the attributes so you may want to load zlauncher just to see them.

This may sound crazy, but if it's only viewable in ZLauncher, do you think it could be a property of ZL rather than the device?

Any launcher that can display hidden files will be able to see these prc files. They are developed by Palm and are definitely in the Centro ROM.

Just for you Alli I spent more time on gettin this to display in resco explorer.

Go to ROM, filter to display hidden items and filter on creator id PmRa

It will find one file and will be the Usage App but with a strange name. It is launchable. Not sure why Palm wanted to hide these so well.

Guess I'll have to re-install Explorer on the Centro just to see those!

Thanks, smith!

Hey.....

There's nothing wrong with using ZLauncher if that's what you want to use.

I prefer Resco Explorer as my file manager and Initiate as my launcher.

For example, I can open any hidden ROM app and have access to any area in the Treo or Centro with RX.

With Inituate, I have access to all my Docs 2 Go documents. There is a limit on what is displayed with the D2G app after a certain number of documents.

You don't need to use tabs with Initiate.

Initiate takes up a whole lot less RAM than ZL.

I don't believe you can do the above with ZL. Although it's been a long while since I used ZL.

I have owned initiate since it was called arrow launcher. I also own zlauncher and resco explorer. I use zlauncher as everyday launcher, initiate when I need to search for a song, memo, document etc. Unfornuatley initiate can not display hidden files so for folks to see the two apps I mentioned they need the z or explorer to view the hidden rom apps.

Hey.....

As always, it's a matter of personal choice. With Resco Explorer, you have access to your device Control Panel, where you have: Saved Prefs, Unsaved Prefs, Alarms, Notifications, Associations, etc and access to another device volume called BuiltIn(A:) Plus access to device Documents folder.

I also own ZLauncher, but as I recall, you don't have access to the above with ZL.

The last version of ZL I used was 5.42. It was over 1.4 megs in rhe RAM.

Resco Explorer is 476 kb and Initiate is 668.5 kb in the RAM with background image. For both 1144.5 kb in RAM, a net savings of more than 300 kb.

Plus a nice pluggin to Initiate from 2Day.

I do everything I need to do with 2 apps instead of three.

As I said, it's a matter of personal choice.

Mornin my lil Allikins....

IOW, yes it would be very cool for Rob to include a file manager in I8. But I think it would make I8 a little on the large side.

I don't know if Rob would be willing to do that. Maybe a limited file manager, kind of like ZL.

MegaLauncher has a limited file manager built in, but it is over 3 megs in size....yes

Not a file manager, just a way to view those hidden files.

Yes only a way to view them is needed. In z it is a preference and then the hidden apps are seen in the launcher. I never use the z file mgr as I have explorer which beats the z file mgr hands down.

Update on these cool hidden ROM apps:

I just found out that dialing ##37789# on my Centro calls up an "Added Apps"
app that lists all 3rd party programs, their version, and size.

Did you ever see the Useage app?

EDIT: I wonder if there is a phone shortcut for this like the added apps you just posted.
