Media tab in desktop caused desktop to freeze.

I uninsulated the Palm Desktop and reinstalled it from the cd that came with my phone. Seams to sync fine and contacts, memo's, ect are there but when I click on the media tab it starts to load and then stalls with the message to install WMP9 I had this working before. I have tried numerous times to un install and reinstall the palm desktop with the same results. I am using the cd to install and not the web version. I found an old post with the same problem but the solution was to edit the registry removing all palm files and reinstall. I am not really comfortable with that as I have bricked computers trying to edit the reg before. I have even reinstalled window and now have several security updates that will not take in windows. So I am most likely looking at scrubbing the hard drive and starting fresh anyway. Does anyone know how to fix the media tab problem in case it does it again.
