I just my new 680 this week and I am having trouble with the Favorites buttons. When I highlight a speed dial Favorite and then hit the center button to dial the number, nothing happens. None of my Favorite speed dials work at all except my Voicemail one.
Any suggestions on getting them to work?
Thanks!

Did you hotsync restore data from a previous 650? I had that problem when I got my 680 and it was due to restoring the prefs from my 650.

I did a clean install but I did transfer my Favorites from my 650 backup so I wouldn't have to re-enter them all. Any suggestions on how to fix this?
Thanks!

backup you favorites, delete them and try a new one and see if it works. If it still doesn't work then it is something other that the favorites file. If it does work it may be the favorites file, then you could maybe check it with something like dbfixit. I was able to move my favorites over after I started clean.

Thanks for your help! I tried deleting an re-entering but still had the same trouble. I ended up doing a hard reset, deleting the Favorites database file from the backup, doing a hotsync, and just re-entering the Favorites manually. It was a bit of extra work but at least the problem is fixed now.
I appreciate your help!

I had a similar problem when I was running KeyCaps600, and did not have the "Disable KeyCaps in Phone app" option enabled.
The funky thing is that my Favorites would work when launched by Butler's Keylauncher outside of the Phone app, but NOT when launched within the phone app.

I just had it happen to me again so now I've deleted the Favorites and have done a hard reset once again. What a pain! I wish I knew what was causing this and how to keep it from happening again! Anyone have any ideas? Thanks!

Could you install Butler, and see if your Favorites will work outside of the Phone app, using Butler's Keylauncher? Might be a good troubleshooting step.
And you're not running KeyCaps600/KeyCaps650??

No, not running KeyCaps.
For some reason, this time the hard reset did not help. My Favorites still are not working. When you press the center button to dial, nothing happens. Only my Voicemail Favorite works. Help!
Thanks!

OMG! I found the solution to my problem! Thank goodness. This really had me freaked out!
I was frantically scouring the Internet and came across a posting on another forum regarding an issue with the Favorites speed dials. A response stated that someone had found that using the application Obfuscate to hide the Phone App icon would cause the speed dials to not work. Well, that's just what I had done! Problem solved!
I remember encountering a problem when hiding an application icon on my 650 so I guess I need to remember to troubleshoot Obfuscate when I'm having a problem with an application whose icon is hidden with Obfuscate.
Thanks though for the suggestions and I hope this helps someone else who encounters trouble when hiding certain application icons with Obfuscate.

Yep, I remember doing something very similar once. As I remember, though, my Favorites still worked when I launched them from Butler (just not from the hidden Phone app), which is why I recommended trying Butler as a troubleshooting step...couldn't remember specifically that it was Obfuscate that caused the prob, but knowing the Favorites worked fine other than in Phone helped me get to the solution.
Congrats on fixing it...sometimes these things take DAYS to figure out, and you got to the solution pretty quickly.

I was lazy, and just hotsynced it that way. Everything works great! But, don't tell anyone. I am sure it is not the best way to handle it.

And, thankfully, I stumbled upon your posting! I had upgraded from a 650 to a 680 and for many, many months all had gone well...until my quick keys (except for voice mail) and my favorites quite working. Blessings upon your house for pointing out that it was the Obfuscate software!!!! OMG! I found the solution to my problem! Thank goodness. This really had me freaked out!
