Try Initiate for a week.
If you don't love it, I'll give you a 20% discount on any other launcher ! I'm convinced that Initiate is the best launcher there is. It's fast, It's customisable, It looks good and it integrates your entire Treo. Other launchers launch applications. Some launch documents. Initiate launches applications, contacts, memos, documents, images, mp3s, and much more. It integrates with your contacts to let you place calls, or send SMS. What's more impressive is that by using type-to-search, you can type a few letters, and very quickly access any of this content. Because Initiate does so much more than other launchers, it works a bit differently. That means takes a little while to get used to. So here is my request. Try Initiate for a week. Sign up for my free email course that will send you one email per day with Initiate tips. If you are not in love with Initiate at the end of the week, then go back to Z-launcher, Launcher-X or whatever other launcher you like. And I'll give you a 20% discount to purchase it! Can I say fairer than that? If you give Initiate an honest try and don't like it, I'll give you a 20% discount on Launcher X, ZLauncher, Card Launcher, Hi-Launcher, magicButton, Treo Launcher, MegaLauncher, Facer Launcher, Type Right, Launch-Anywhere, Hard Button eXtender (HBX), Propel , mobileLAUNCH, Kid Zone, 2LaunchMe, SharkSwipeT3 or SilverScreen! Click here to take the challenge... http://www.hobbyistsoftware.com/initiate-launch-off.php

How about this, I already own Launcher X, and honestly downloaded Initiate the other day and removed it within an hour (it was overwhelming). But like you said, it takes more than a day or hour in my case. After reading your challenge, give it an honest week of serious use, I thought that makes sense, however, if I decide I don't like it, I can't get 20% off a product I already own. So, what I am proposing is this, I will give Initiate a good week, (trust me, it will be a good one, my wife always says Im on my Treo too much) and if I still don't think its the best, how about 20% off one of your other products, butler, Power hero, etc?

Day#1- I was sure I was getting 20% another app Day#2- I was starting to see the light. This really does have some nice features, but is taking some getting used too, hence the 1 full week honest use challenge. The auto launch from a few key taps is pretty cool. Didn't realize "Ultimate" phone was my only app that started with "U". Everytime I hit U, it launched it (i did not realize it had this feature the first time), actually thought I must lf set a quick launch in Butler and forgot about it. The total integration of being able to view everything is cool too. Still have 5 days too go- so far positive.

I left the Treo for a Blackberry Pearl. So I did not buy it. It was a great launcher though. However the blackberry is awesome!!! I was hesitant at first unitll I got it and after 5 minutes, I was sold!!!! Will miss developers like Hobbyist though. Too bad they dont make stuff for the blackberry!!

Hi,,
As my friend said, Blackberry Pearl is amazing. I was taken by its features for a while. U can't find a better alternative for Pearl, That's for sure.

i really am trying to like it, but just can't overcome my prejudice... as yet things that are putting me off at present - Complexity, initiate appears to be very capable but it's just not intuitive in the way that I find zLauncher to be.
- No recycle bin, for some reason i appeared to have two Avantgo icons, when getting info they appeared to be duplicates,( I realise this was probably something I had done) So I deleted one, and both vanished, no worries recover from recycle bin, saved my bacon many times on Zlauncher but wait no recycle bin.
- Tab handling In zlauncher i have my eight tabs down the side, allowing me to quickly swap from one tab to the next, in Initiate I can't find an option to resize my tabs so they are spread over several pages which is a bit of a pain.
I will experiment with it for the week, and see if i can get to grips with it but at the moment i can see me going back to zlauncher. Bravo Rob for the guts to pit it against the numerous other launchers anyway and I hope it garners you some sales

I have tried _REALLY_ hard to keep Initiate simple, but it does do more than z-launcher in terms of handling different content types. z-launcher may be familiar to you, but I find the setup/prefs mindbogglingly complex and I hope that Initaite's settings/prefs are a lot more self-explanatory. Initiate is different to other launchers (particularly with type-to-search) so it does take some getting used to. I have worked hard to ensure that complexity is only there where it really adds value. - No recycle bin, for some reason i appeared to have two Avantgo icons, when getting info they appeared to be duplicates,( I realise this was probably something I had done) So I deleted one, and both vanished, no worries recover from recycle bin, saved my bacon many times on Zlauncher but wait no recycle bin.
z-launcher causes endless problems with the recycle bin. Particularly when people think something is deleted but it is actually fully active in teh background. I think it is a terrible feature! - Tab handling In zlauncher i have my eight tabs down the side, allowing me to quickly swap from one tab to the next, in Initiate I can't find an option to resize my tabs so they are spread over several pages which is a bit of a pain.
yup, category presentation does need to be better. Icons on the way. remember though that Initiate works better if you can wean off the categories and use them only in exceptional browsing (not launching) situations. I will experiment with it for the week, and see if i can get to grips with it but at the moment i can see me going back to zlauncher.

I'm not really impressed with Initiate. Got it as part of the bundle. Have been playing with it for a couple of weeks. Took the course. Read all of the documentation, tips, forum posts, blogs, etc (over & over). Tried a bunch of different views, backgrounds, skins, etc. Had some issues with it. Seems like it wants to do too much. Screen clutter is unavoidable. I use Takephone for phone and messaging (also as my default screen) and all of the other apps I regularly use are in the 'Main' category so the Palm Launcher works just fine for me (plus I find it a hell of a lot easier to manage apps on the SD card with the Palm Launcher). No offence to Rob, actually Kudos, because I use the chit out of the other 4 apps in the bundle. JMHO - I guess I just don't see the need for an alternate launcher. I've been using the Palm OS since I got my first (III C) and have never found the need for a different way to launch apps. Again JMHO - no offence meant.

that's fair enough. I'm glad you gave it a go. I'll argue with you on screen clutter being unavoidable though - have you seen the "purist's initiate" ? http://www.hobbyistsoftware.com/initiate-most-unobtrusive-launcher.php Could there be less screen clutter than this launcher view? that's the extreme purist's initiate - but everything is still there with a couple of keys and type-to-search

Purist view gets a big hell yeah I set it up leaving the status icons at the top along with the voice memo and big time plug-ins. Also set it to cycle between Applications, Apps on SD Card and Power User. Now I'm liking it. I can find anything by typing a letter or two.
