For God, country and Treo!

yea i use card export all the time. have you update your ROM with the FAT32 hack also? it would be required to read anything above 2gb. if you have, you could try Card Reader or insert the card, then open card export to see if that works. otherwise im not sure what to tell you. everything works fine here.

you wont need to install the sdioslotreader for SDHC unless the card SPECIFICALLY says SDHC on the sticker. it is clearly printed on the label and if not there, only SD is there, then you dont need to update to SDHC capabilities. however if you do update to the SDHC files, it will still read legacy SD cards.

EazyE...
Told you that i'd try this afternoon... (got to it tonight) and well, WOOHOO!
-launched the ROM Tool
-everything worked perfectly first time.
-downloaded my ROM
-made a working copy and removed FATFS and replaced with FAT32.
-while i was there, i went through the file list and sure enough, found MMCBulverdeIntelDrv_Device that i couldn't see using FileZ. hmmm .... weird
-so... i proceeded with original plan to throw in slotdriver_SDIO_sdsd and SmartTextEngine_Device.
-uploaded; closed the ROM Tool app and reset...
-looked at my 2GB card and was immediately recognized by Card Export II and Card Info.
-popped out the 2GB and popped in the 8GB.  although the 8GB card is recognized by Card Info and card export II... it won't let me format and wouldn't let me name/rename the volume.
-popped the 8GB into the card reader and using windows explorer, it says that it is write protected.
-played with lock switch... tried to tape it open, left it half way... several little tricks.
-nothing worked..
-gonna try on my work pc tomorrow
-i'm a happy guy and gonna sleep really well !!!

thanks for the suggestion before... i wouldn't have tried the custom ROM without your help..

You're a good man! Grin

A friend of mine just bought a used Verizon Treo 650. He asked me for suggestion, and I told him that verizon  phones reset alot; he should get the rom customized.
So I got to do the firmware update, then customize the ROM.
I figured, since I was at it, I might as well put the 8gb hack in his too... just in case!

yea fredp i thought it was mighty fishy that you didnt have MMCetc.prc FileZ wont always list all ROM files apparently. good luck.

SoTac, the last time i touched my buddys VZW was when him and i tried to update the firmware. it was about 8 months after i got mine, barely a newbie still. according to directions a person needs to have it plugged into the powercord for the ROM Updater, well we were both completely newbs and he's like "we dont need the power cord, my battery is full" so we try and try do the update but everytime he turns the phone on, the treo resets and loops. he calls up palm tech support the next day and they instruct him to plug in the power cord and they do the update step by step and it worked perfectly with the only thing being different was they plugged it in. so now he blames me for all his phone problems, haha. (its more so just a back and forth joke between us, but he wont let me touch his treo anymore) Good Stuff! whenever we meet up though we are beaming and bluetoothing stuff to each other like mad. gotta spend an hour getting new utilities and games from each other, cant miss out! his girlfriends like, " holy god you two need help  no "

seems there's a significant speed increase even if you dont want or have the SDHC cards. it might just be the FAT32 hack, but might be a combo of all both the FAT32 and the SDiO.

I only have a 2 gig card but after installing this there was a noticeable speed increase in launching card apps. Very much worth installing even if you don't have an SDHC card!

Opens up the world of SDHC to us lowly Treo650 users, bring it on!!

Using it with FAT32 and the speed is fast on a 1G SD card. However, the included SmartTextEngine_Device are not the updated version. The updated version file size should be 81K.

Wooo Hoooo  Grin

Added the 2 files, SlotDriver_SDIO-sdsd.prc and SmartTextEngine_Device.prc to my 4GB SD Card then copied them to RAM using Resco Explorer and now the 8 GB Card works fine, showing 7700 MB in Card Export 2.
I'm overjoyed, will do the ROM job when I find time next.

After customizing my 650 ROM to include SlotDriver_SDIO and SmartTextEngine_Device, Fat 32, Fast mode Blazer 4.3 and some applications, I haven't seen any compelling need to upgrade my 650. Probably I'll wait for Treo 880p running Palm/ALP OS 6.
