Forgive my extreme ignorance, but is it possible that the files are currently in internal ROM but need to be in internal RAM? If so, do you know how to move a file from one to the other? Thanks for your patience.

If they're in ROM they don't need to be in RAM. You can try installing the file FAT32.prc although I didn't have to on on Treo.

Spelling error. I didn't have to install the file FAT32.prc on my Treo but you can try installing it and see what happens after you do a reset. If nothing happens you can always delete the file.

Just purchased an 8 GB Card complete with card reader off eBay for £43 = $75.76 inc. postage.
As soon as it arrives will carry out the procedure as described by EasyE (Eric), many thanks and kudos for the info.

Hi,
I am new on this forum.  I put the SIDO-sdsd on my card with a card reader first and then copied to the 700p and it is working.  Except it shows up as only 4GB available.  Does anyone know if it will still alow 8GB of data on the 700p.

Thanks

If you go back further in the thread, you'll see this.
Bought one 8GB SDHC (Class 2) yesterday for my 680.

Card Info reports only 3574.8MB. Card Reader reports 3.5GB

Card Export II reports 7686.0 MB Smiley

On XP, card property reports 7.49GB:

Copied a few ~1.5GB .avi via Card Reader and Card Export II to the card via USB, all played well in TCPMP.
So it probably should be the same on your 700p, since it is a software issue.

Dang it!  I just bought a 4gb sd too!  Well time to look for a 8GB.  So far so good.  My 4gb works fine after the install.

Does anyone know if I will need a SDHC card reader or will my current card reader work?

SDHC is a new standard so you'll either need a firmware update for your card reader (unlikely) or a new SDHC Specific card reader. BUT, Card Export and Card Reader apps for the treo work quite well with sdhc cards.

hi EazyE
sounds cool, ... I could not find any ""MMCBulverdeIntelDrv_Device.prc" but some
"DMABulverdeIntel" file with the type "libr" and some other
"UartBulverdeIntel_d" with type "ovly"
"UartBulverdeIntel" with type "vdrv"
"UartHtcAsic6Bulverde" with type "vdrv"
and 2 time "USBClientBuverdeIntel" type "vdrv"

Shall I delte them all, or only the first one, type "libr" ?

brds,

nimra

Hey everyone!!
my first post here..... i've been watching the forum for awhile and decided that i needed to update my ROM since i have pretty much filled my 2GB SD card.

Sooo....Got my 8GB Transcend SDHC card yesterday and was ready to make a custom ROM tonight but ran into a slight glitch... i'm missing the "MMCBulverdeIntelDrv_Device.prc" in my ROM -as was also experienced by nimra in the quote above.

The phone's software is:  Treo650-1.05a-VZW and i've never worked on the ROM before.  Wondering if one of the following files from my list of files would be the right substitute to remove:
        UartBulverdeIntel,15.5 k,u73x,vdrv
        UartBulverdeIntel_enUS,196 B,u73x,ovly
        UartHtcAsic6Bulverde,8.76 k,HsBT,vdrv
        USBClientBulverdeIntel,8.69 k,pusb,vdrv
        USBClientBulverdeIntel,12.0 k,pusb,vdrv
Was hoping for some suggestions... i'm pretty much a noobie.... and didn't really want to experiment at this point..
thought i'd wait for a successful basic custom ROM that will allow me to use an 8GB card before trying anything more advanced.
thanks in advance.

i have absolutely no idea why you wouldn't have that file MMCBulverdeIntelDrv_Device.prc as Shadowmite determined it was the legacy SD card controller. perhaps its not.

The only thing i can suggest is installing the SlotDriver and FAT32 in your custom ROM and trying that to see if that works while removing nothing but the FATFS.prc. perhaps this means the original MMCBulverdeIntelDrv_Device.prc file is different per each different device ROM.

i would not delete any of those other files Nimra listed until you find out their function.

my original instructions came from referencing www.shadowmite.com/filelist.pdf which is shadowmite's ROM file list for a sprint phone. things will probably be different for other carriers.

yea i use card export all the time. have you update your ROM with the FAT32 hack also? it would be required to read anything above 2gb. if you have, you could try Card Reader or insert the card, then open card export to see if that works. otherwise im not sure what to tell you. everything works fine here.

you wont need to install the sdioslotreader for SDHC unless the card SPECIFICALLY says SDHC on the sticker. it is clearly printed on the label and if not there, only SD is there, then you dont need to update to SDHC capabilities. however if you do update to the SDHC files, it will still read legacy SD cards.
