aw very good. didnt intend to talk down to anyone but i just dont want someone jumping into this too soon and then blaming me or expecting me to fix all their problems. i'll definitely help where i can though.
Kudos for pointing out that the instructions are missing a part. i guess i've overlooked that time and time again cuz i have the process in my brain. good luck with your venture and you seem on the right track so far (having a back up of the ROM).
No worries. All appears to be well with my Treo 650 after the operation. The new files are in place and everything still works. I don't have an SDHC card to test with yet.

I was in CompUSA yesterday, and saw a 4GB SDHC card there for $199 !?!?!? NewEgg has 8GB cards for $90.

more like RipUoffUSA! (that was lame) but still. yeaa 2gb is still like $110 at the best buy here. $30 is expensive online, haha. and our best buy eats it hard too. we dont even have SDHC stuff yet. my bro said they are really slow to pick up new technology unless its majorly mainstream or someting like that. doesnt make too much sense but he worked there and said its all about numbers and new obscure technology doesnt move from the shelf. so i guess i'll be getting stuff online for the rest of my life. its cheaper anyways i guess. ::shrugs:: mine is the 8gb Transcend SDHC from newegg.com i just wish it were class6 instead of 2. i'll survive though since there is barely any lag at all. for 6 gigs worth of stuff, read/write/access is pretty fast for real time use (as opposed to VFSMark results)

I don't think there are. Most things are made for PC. Sorry, wish I could help.

For info and instruction on installing Fat32, check the following links: ROMTool and Installation via MMASTRAC's ROM ToolYes, you have to use the ROMTool to do it, so technically you are doing a custom ROM, though a minor one

KFU Eazy! Thanks for the excellent write up and instructions. Finally did the SDHC hack since i just got my 4 GB SDHC kingston card. Everything works perfectly, no resets, nothing. I think i need to order 2 8 GB SDHC cards. I just ran out of space on my 4 GB... (go figure).

6. Verify new SDHC card works. (the simple fact that the SDHC card is readable in the treo means its fully capable of writing to it and working properly. if installing an 8gb SDHC card, treo will only display up to 4gb capacity but i assure you, all 8gb is useable.) ~ EazyE
:EDIT:
Please continue to use this thread and post any and all problems you've encountered with this process so we all can be aware of the issues and the possible fixes (if any) Thanks!
Maybe you could install Card Info app from Treo 680 to display the correct size on 650. I ever do that when use LifeDrive Card Info to display 1 Gb correct size on my T3

are you confirming that the 680 actually shows 8gb in the card info app? it was my understanding that the 680 didnt show the full 8gb either. lemme know. anyone with a 680 that can screenshot this would be greatly appreciated! Yea, prolab, something compells me to keep cramming new pointless stuff onto my 8gb just because A) I CAN!, B) its entertaining as hell! Kudos to you.

bwahahaha...got my 8GB yesterday. ripping my movies...gonna fill it up!
btw, over on TC there is mention that the video recording option didn't work with some, worked with some. My experience: it didn't work the first time I did it. i formatted it with the treo card info prc.
then i went out and bought the 19.99 sandisk SDHC reader. Didn't reformat anything, and now it records. weird eh?

hey good to know! maybe when i've got about 40 hours to format my SDHC card i'll give it a try. i'll swoop over to the sandisk site, see if that reader is online. my one-buggy town doesnt get new tech stuff (ie SDHC) until its major mainstream product so we have no readers here.
