I definately waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaant it!  Smiley)

My main concern with the 650 is battery life. Faster processor, hires screen and bluetooth all use more power.

Any technically competent persons who would dare to guess how PalmOne may handle battery life on the 650?

I'm not technically competent but I am commercially knowledgeable: I'm really happy to learn this will have a removeable battery, and it's enough for me to go out and buy one as soon as it is on the market as it is the biggest failing of the 600 for me.

But I must say I think one reason they have done this (why not have done it with the 600???!!!??....) is that it probably uses up too much power for them to be able to say even with half a straight face that it doesn't need replaceable batteries. I would say this one has it because it needs it and it needs it because you could really drain the battery with all these features. Since I am not going to use bluetooth, though, I don't really care too much. Having a spare battery in my pocket is going to change my life. What else makes life worth living if not that?

I'll definitely like to see a head to head comparison of Battery Life between Treo 600 vs Treo 650

With all the features on, and i don't mean by what the Spec sheet says, but real life usage.

Currently my Treo 600 performs quite well, with GPRS always on, Screen mostly on, and doing MP3 with pTunes, surfing the Web, and running IM, and AvantGo, and email, hmm... i guess that's about it, oh yeah and some games here and there. Oh an all the Alarms set to the loudest (7) with some very long MIDIs

anyways... overall, it can surive almost a full day with like 20% battery left, with One charge. Lets see i take it off the charger before i go to work that's about 8 am, and doesn't go back to the charger until around 1 am

In another words, if the Treo 650 can do that with 1 battery, gosh, i'll definitely switch.  Cheesy

All things being equal, a 320x320 screen uses 4 times the power of a 160x160 display.  My guess is that they are using a slightly more efficient LCD technology with somewhat reduced power requirements.  I also expect the brightness will be noticably reduced to conserve the battery, which would be fine by me because my t600 screen is too bright as it is.

The current battery is 1800mAh, and I'll bet the new one will be at least 2000mAh, but there really isn't space for something more.

Bottom line is I suspect everyone will be carrying an extra battery in one of their pockets.  Smiley

And me buying a Treo 600 to have only one thing to carry around instead of a Palm + a mobile.  :-/

My old wristwatch is automagically charged when i move my arm - perhaps that power may be tapped  Wink
